streeteg
Ya so I went to change my plugs and when I popped out the coils I look in cyl 3 and 5 and there is a lot of white powder. Pics will be up shortly... what the hell does this mean...
Z U L8R
probably just the cleaning solution the place you got your motor from used to clean it off with. shouldn't be a problem
Evan Purple240zt
Your engine clearly has a cocaine problem. I had some of that funk in my motor too, no big deal IMO. Clean it out and move on! Evan

naviathan
Not to be the alarmist here, but you might want to keep an eye out for head gasket issues. Usually the coolant will turn to a white flaky build up when it's burnt off.

Usually the coolant will turn to a white flaky build up when it's burnt off. Yeah but it'll leave a slightly colored buildup on the plugs themselves. Flaky white powder could just be oxidation on the aluminum from the intake manifold flaking off after sitting on the shelf for so long. Or it could be aluminum dust from a compressor wheel eating into the housing.
Evan Purple240zt
I think he was saying the powder was on the outside of the motor, under the coils. Didn't say he pulled the plugs. Evan

Evan actually, the name of the thread is: "Went to change the plugs and found white powder in cyl 3 & 5"
streeteg
the powder was actually on top of the coil packs as well as around the rings that the coils sit on. I wish I took a pic but my digi died right as i went to change the plugs and rain was on the way... I cleaned it up and havent had the car running since... so this upcoming weekend it should be running ill pull them again
