jojothemonkey
Ive searched around, but I am still not sure where I should connect the chains to the engine. I plan on removing the engine and the tranny tomorrow.
Comrade_Charlie
I just hook chains up to good size bolts on both ends of the motor, I know on my 300s engine there are hook hole things... but when I pulled a l6 and the auto transout of my 81turbo, I just found some bolts and put the chains on them... Tony D
Stock lifting points are from the lifting hook at the front right part of the head, and the rearmost exhaust stud (where the lifting hook is probably gone). I have gone from front lifting hook to EGR bolt with no problems on more than one engine. That way lifts it reasonably evenly if you aren't using a load-leveler. Remember to unbolt the motor mounts. Don't laugh...it happens!

HowlerMonkey
Don't use the one on the last exhaust stud unless you put that stud in yourself recently.

jojothemonkey
I used a head bolt... the head was off of the engine... I was thinking about using couple of the exhaust and intake bolts but was not sure if they would be strong enough for lifting the engine. Plus i cant find grade 8 metric bolts at the home depot or lowes.
Tony D
The stock stuff is barely grade five, grade 8 in shear loading for 400# is way overkill unless you are planning on lifting it with something like a pair of 4-40 screws...
