80LS1T
What size of tire should I use for my 17x7's? I have wheel spacers for my Konig Monsoon 17x7's and my suspension is stock size(updated to stiffer springs and new bushings but havent gone to coilovers...yet!). So what size of tire would work best? I am looking for good straight line acceleration and good cornering abilitys. Also I will not be driving in any wet conditions ever. Also what is a good brand of Z rated tires for steet/strip (75/25) use in dry conditions only? Thanks Guy
80LS1T
Hey BRAD D, what kind of paint is that on your car? I want my paint to be kinda like that but in BLUE. Is there a metalic in that paint? (sorry to change the subject!) I basically want my paint to be like a velvet blue. You know what were it looks black when light hits it a certain way but blue otherwise. Not a camilian (sp?) color though! I hate camilian!!!! Does anybody know what I am talking about? Oh yeah and Greimann I will look at the tire rack for that size! Thanks, Guy
BRAD D
The paint is 3 stage paint (candy),House of Kolor Kandy. you paint it a metalic first in any color, then you use a tinted clear, then clear it. I used metalic blue then clear green or as House of Kolor would say Kandy.
80LS1T
So if I want mine blue I would go with a black metalic first then with the clear blue tint? Thanks, Guy
BRAD D
I dont know if black will work. But dark silver would. If you go to a paint shop that sells House of color you can see the book they have with all the colors. PPG also sells tinted clears. this is what mine looks like in the sun. yours? 80LS1T
Yeah if its the dark blue on top!? Guy
BRAD D
that is the thing about candy paint it is dark untill the light hits it and bounces off the metalic. here is a darker blue Kandy, see how the close up of the tank looks lighter. the green car in my old post is all one color. that is what i like about it. 80LS1T
I take it the DR is for Drag Radial? Is this a good street tire though? Guy
Guest greimann
I just hooked up some Yokohama AVS ES100 in the 235/45-17 size on 7.5" wide wheels. I have no opinion on how they perform yet because they are brand new. According to Tire Rack, the 225/45-17 is the largest you can go on 7" wide wheels. I would suggest you browse around their site. Lots of good technical info. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?make=Yokohama&model=AVS+ES100
BRAD D
they dont last long, but they hook up. and they are not bad in the rain. my car is a summer only car, so i dont put a lot of miles on them, there for they last a long time. if you go to my link there is some photos of them. If the question is about fit, then they should fit fine, but personally I would go with 225's to maximize the amount of tire you can put on the wheels. 80LS1T
So I should get 225/45's or should I get 225/40's? Thanks, Guy
Guest greimann
Play with the calculator at the link below. If you are happy with your existing tire diameter, then use the calculator to select a tire that is similar. http://www.c5-corvette.com/tirecalc.htm
rags
You can get 225/45-17 Falken Azinas's shipped to your door for $448 from discount tire! Don't know how good they are in the wet but you can't beat them in the dry. Joe
80LS1T
Well I dont plan on driving my car in the rain or wet conditions if I can help it. I have heard good things about the Falken tires though. I will have to look into those 225/45's. Thanks, Guy
