Bartman
Thanks to San Diego Z and HybridZ member Doc Hawk, I got a great set of racing seats for my car at a great price. David installed a similar set in his Z and they fit great, and hopefully I'll have mine installed this weekend. back-to-zcars
Is that their vinyl seat or is it a leather version I don't see on the site you linked too?
Bartman
Is that their vinyl seat or is it a leather version I don't see on the site you linked too? It's their vinyl seat. some people list them on eBay as leather seats, but they're not.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2x-BOMZ-Leather-Racing-Seats-Eclipse-3000GT-Lancer-Evo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33701QQihZ024QQitemZ370017824158QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW In the details of this auction, they say "100% hand made from the highest quality vinyl leather", is there such a thing as "vinyl leather". OR-JO
How is the mounting? How much fab, if any required?
Bartman
That looks pretty sick... Good quality? The fit, finish and comfort seem first rate. They probably aren't as nice as a Recaro or Sparco, but much better than cheap knock-off's. David went to the factory and got to see how they're constructed and he was impressed. Here's his quote from San Diego Z: Instead of standard foam, they use mattress-grade memory foam in the padded areas on top of heavy duty foam, so the cushion feels much softer to sit in than a standard racing seat. After you "sink in" there is still the firm support you'd expect out of a racing seat, but it just conforms a little better to your body (or at least, to mine). rudypoochris
Any guess on weight? Looks Good! For that matter, how much do stock seats weigh in comparison to these aftermarket ones?
Bartman
How is the mounting? How much fab, if any required? On David's install they mounted directly to his stock mounting holes, the only issue he has is that the passenger side wing touches the door when it's reclined at a certain position. I'll let you know how my installation goes.
Bartman
Any guess on weight?Looks Good! For that matter, how much do stock seats weigh in comparison to these aftermarket ones? According to the manufacturer these weigh 28 pounds each.
Bartman
The driver's sdie seat is installed. All it took was two new holes on the exisitng brackets to account for the sliders being slightly farther apart than the stockers. The seat just fits with the wing touching at the door. garvice
The seat just fits with the wing touching at the door. Do you really sit with the chair reclined that far back? In my 2+2, I sit with the seat at the first position (i.e. not reclined at all)
280Z Turbo
I'd bet money that they wouldn't fit in a 280Z.
