MaTTSuN
ok im going to start autoX'ing my car this year just wondering what i should use for wheels i have a set of celica supra wheels 14x7 and a set of snow flake turbo wheels 15x6 i think they are im thinking i should use the 14s since they are wider but would the 15's be better for any reason? also what is a good tire for autoX quick warm up and "long" lasting thnks Matt
datsun40146
Well I can tell you that the snowflake wheels no matter how cool they look are some of the heavist wheels that ever came on a Z. Peronally I would get a set of 280zx 5 spokes. They are the lightest wheel and not too bad looking and can be had at a junkyard for about 20$ a wheel. Tires, I would choose Falcan Azenis- very sticky but they are a bit heavy, or Khumo MX appears to be another good choice.
Clifton
If the tires are for autoX only, I would go with V710's or A6's. I would look at tire sizes and prices before deciding on a wheel. Tire rack has both. I wouldn't run a street tire (treadwear above 140) for autoX. I wouldn't even do it on a weekend Z.
EMWHYR0HEN
Falken Azenis RT-615 or Kumho V710, as already stated. I did a combo of both at a track event, great tires.
mannyvig
Generally most people would go with the smaller diameter tire, plus its wider. Nitto NT-01 Best amateur autox-time attack tire you can still drive home with in my mind.
MaTTSuN
im leaning toward the 14s because of the small and wideness 225 50 14 the snows will be my street tires or just get another set or supra rims i like the way they look
EMWHYR0HEN
That's a hard size to come by, especially a tire with a good compound. Your next best bet is going with some slicks.
MaTTSuN
the v710 comes in 223 50 14 im thinking of gonig with that tire
katman
225/50-14 Hoosier A6's on the Supra rims. Since that tire is about 1.9 inches smaller in diameter than stock you get almost an inch lower and get a better gear ratio, for free! Now you really need to save up for some Panasport race wheels, since, well, Z's love Panasports, but if you got the Supra mags already...
