Guest Anonymous
Ok, I am planning a v8Z with 400 BHP and I need to know how to successfully get as much of this power down as possible. wheelspin is fun, but slooooow. I want speed.
Mikelly
Viper, Interesting that you should mention that. Chris and I were discussing it today. My car has an estimated 540+ hp and about 500Ft# of torque and I have some serious meats under the rear of the car. I also have a T56 with 2.66 1st gear and 3:7 gears in the rear. My car has no trouble getting down the road. Yes I can smoke the tires like crazy when I want to, but I can also launch pretty darned well to. My buddy has a mustang with a 426 stroker in it, has 3:55 gears, a tremec 5 speed, H rated 225 50 16 tires and way more torque than HP... He does nothing BUT spin.... Mostly because of the lack of tire and way more torque than HP... His HP numbers are lower by aboout 20% and the one thing Doug Rippie and John Lingenfelter both advised is a nice broad torque curve and a closely matched set of numbers in relation to torque and HP! RickB
Hey Viper, Whats your application...drag/stoplight racing or bonsai top end? ------------------ RickB 280V8 http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov
MYRON
Viper, My car is around 475hp and over 400ftlb of torque. I have some sticky yokohama rubber and a STOCK torgue converter. The car hooks very well. almost no wheelspin unless I brake torque first. Some concrete surfaces are batter than others though... I took Bobby (nos350z) for a ride the other day, he can attest to the traction. RickB's car hooks very well also with nitto drag radials and he runs in the 7's in the 8th mile. If you build all your power at a very low rpm you may have a problem. My car really doesnt come to life until 3k.. By then I am well under way and I dont have to worry about wheelspin. RickB
Today my little Z banged out a 1.76 60 foot time on 205/55/14(!) Nitto drag radials!!! I was able to juice it as soon as the rearend squatted. I'm impressed with these little meats... ------------------ RickB 280V8 http://photos.yahoo.com/bornabov
