GrayZee
The independant front diff from the early 80's 4x4's looks like the rear diff of a Z, however it has a 4.38 ratio : ) Anyone ever heard of doing this? I imagine that since it is mounted backwards it is designed to run backwards? if so would there be a oiling problem? Thanks for any input. blueovalz
I've always wondered, is the toe and heal of the teeth reversed on this ring gear from a normal differential ring gear?
Guest Drewz
Would also be interested in the answer to that one! ------------------ The only stupid question is one you wanted to ask but never did!!! http://ca.photos.yahoo.com/andrewzcars Drewz
Drax240z
I know a couple of guys with them, but I'm not sure anyone I know has actually put them into a car before! The ratio sounds correct to me though. ------------------ Richard Lewis
SleeperZ
I know a fellow who put one in his 260, along with a T-5 and the 280ZX turbo motor. The word is there is nothing different about it, it's a rear diff used in the front of a 4x4, so you in effect get a new wear surface from a used diff. He's actually getting tired of the zippy gears, especially with that T-5. I'm not surprised.
johnc
The front diff is the same as the rear on the 4x4. The output shaft from the transfer case spins in the correct direction. ------------------ John Coffey johnc@betamotorsports.com
