engine shut off

Just crusin down the road my engine will shut off. I can turn key and start right back up, or i can pop it and start right back up. I talked to someone at a parts store, he said check the altenator. I think its a valid point, but could it be fuel cut? Or would the car not start right back up if it was fuel cut? Anyone else have problems like this?

Both. My oil pressure is alright when i first start it up. but im replaceing the ignition coil today. Its broke so the wire doesnt stay in there tight, and the only thing that suhts off is the motor, all of my electrical stays on, lights and everything. It seems that the spark is cut from the motor.

to update so far. I replaced the coil, still shutting off. So from turning it over so much to get it goin again the starter went, go one from a junkard at good price, was good, til i went to autozone. I had to test my altenator, tested bad, so i was going to get a new one. I took the starter i bought to get tested too, just to make sure, and the kid hooked it up wrong and it arched and fried the starter, the manger told me that the arch was from "just a bad connection" when the kid hooked it up to the altenator bracket (which was metal) and thats what caused the arch. The manager refused to replace the starter because he has more "experience" than me, (when my father told me it was the kids fault the starter tested bad, he used to rebuild starters) so as of now i have just enough to get the altenator, and it looks as Im beat for the 40$ i spent on the starter case i cant afford 70$ for a new one, til i got home and my father called corporate. Yea that ass at autozone, WILL NOT be happy when corporate says he has to give me a new starter. So to say Im pretty pissed right now. Will let everyone know how it goes when i get the altenator and starter.

Ok, personally I would check my oil pressure cut off sensor, connections.

Now, I will caution you against crapping against the "machine" (those providing to us).

When you are God, then kindly fault others, until then you are a lost kid just like that fellow that might have screwed up.

You would not be here if you were not trying to learn.

On a side note; break up your one paragraph into something easier to read.

Ok so, brand new altenator, plugs, wires, distributor cap n rotar, new coil, new starter, new battery, still shutting off. Wolden Ill get the checking the oil pressure senors, its been raining alot and i dont have a garage to work in. Should I go and replace the ingniton module too? The check light on my dash flashes battery, but most of the elctronics to the battery are new. Other then the ingiton module and oil pressure sensors i have no idea what to check next, any help is greatly appresciated, and thanks for the help already.

I just checked some things online, and one answer I found had to do with the throttle position sensor, and the ecm. It said something about watching the rpms as you turn the car over, if the needle rises up off zero while cranking, the ecm is giveing the go ahead to start. Im guessing its not the ecm cause the needle moves up when trying to start. Something I prolly should have mentioned is that the oil pressure sometimes is operating around mid-range, sometimes it sits low, the lite on the oil pressure guage is always on.

Like Waldson said I think you really should be looking at your oil pressure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure if the oil pressure drops to far when the engine is running it is wired to one of the two fuel pump relays. One of the relays triggers the other and will cause the fuel pump to be stopped and will kill your engine like you have been finding.

I'm guessing this is done from the factory as a kind of safety cutoff to prevent the engine from damage.
