Distributor shaft gasket (where to find)

Recommended Posts

Im looking for the gasket that goes in between the distributor shaft and the mounting point on the block. It has 3 holes. one for the Key'ed shaft and 2 for bolts mounting on either side. I was checking black dragon and was unable to find this piece. Should I just use silicone? Ive been running it without for a while and there seems to be a small amount of leakage.

Thanks

Ben

There are several 'rolls' of gasket material you can get at auto parts stores. Just trace it out and use a hole-punch for the bolt holes. Make sure you don't buy the cork. Other than that, at my local stores there is a black material and a green. I've used both with no problem.

EDIT: Not sure exactly which gasket you are referring to, now that I think about it. What's it made of?

There is no mounting point on the L28 block, The dizzy goes on the timing cover and has is a gasket (between the timing cover and the distributor base). Mine came in the head gasket set, and it also comes in the timing cover gasket set. Then is the o-ring at the distributor shaft and the base.

Its a very easy gasket to make as Wizard said. But if you really want it, the cover gasket set is under 10 bucks.
