zgeezer
What gear ratios are available in the R230's? Any thing approaching 3.31, which I now have in the R200. I'd sure like to pull less than 2000rpm @75mph or thereabouts. zgeezer
Modern Motorsports Ltd
Zgeezer, I don't know what gears are in an R230, a forum search would bring it out as it's been discussed many times. They're 3.54 or steeper (ie. higher numerical number) I'm 99.9995 sure. Your 3.36 R200 is quite rare and an enjoyable pieces in its own right. Guest Anonymous
The 3.36 R200s are standard in 74' 260z 2+2 with manual trans.

Not on Canadian builds or any US builds friends own. Only some very early 280ZX's have had them AFAIK.

Mike Mileski
I've got a note saved from an earlier search from this forum that the R230 from the twin turbo 300ZX (1990-1996) has a 3.61:1 ratio and the ones from normally aspirated ones have a 4.083:1 ratio, both viscous limited slip. Scottie-GNZ
quote The 3.36 R200s are standard in 74' 260z 2+2 with manual trans 4-spd manual to be exact, which makes it even rarer. The Z32 TTs have a 3.69:1 final drive.
Ray
If you get a r230 out of a Q45 it has a 3.54 in it ... depending on which trans you are running this is a very popular gear.... the 4.08 in such a light car would be overkill with a V8.... Mikelly
Ray, it really depends on which trans you use...I'm actually searching for a 4:10 gear ratio because my T56 in my current configuration (383 Stroker w/ hydraulic roller 535/550 Lift - 284/292 dur. Advertised) won't allow my motor to function optimally at RPMs below 2000 in 6th gear... The cam isn't working below that and 6th gear at 2000RPMs is pulling something in the range of 105mph!
