Guest Zpeed
yesterday, just playing around i started spinning the tyres everywhere i was going, and it was leaving 2 marks, 2 tyre marks, which i thought was odd, cause i'm pretty sure that it is an open diff, and every open diff i have encounted only spun one wheel, and both tyre marks stoped at the same mark.. i don't know what the prevois owner did to it if anything, but a friend of mine told me to check it by jacking up the rear, and spining a tyre, and if both sping the same way its a LSD if the spin opposite ways its Open.. not sure if they will work thou
johnc
The only way to be sure is to take the rear cover off and look inside. Most likely you have a regular open diff. Its common for them to spin both tires if the traction is right.
stony
if its an open diff they will spin in opposite direction. LSD will spin in the same direction... you can tell how strong an LSD it is buy holding one side while spinning the other side and see how hard it is to break it free. pparaska
This is pretty typical. Since it's IRS, one tire doesn't get unloaded like a solid axle. I've also heard that the spider gears and/or shaft or case can flex causing the spiders to bind a bit under heavy torque, making it kind of lock up.
