PurePontiacKid
Hey, I've been reading up on doing an RB swap into my 280ZX for a couple of months, especially after I got it running again with its stock L28E... But there is one thing (probably more, but I'll get to that later ) that is unclear for me... It's the amount of wiring I would have to do, because I was just planning on using the stock ECU and harness, but would I be able to just take the old ECU and harness out and replace it with the Skyline one? or am I just wishfully thinking? (I hate wiring haha) Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it after days of searching... Thanks! Ian
jerryb
Im not familiar with ZX conversions but you will need to remove the ZX harness and replace it with the RB one. Then connect a few wires for ignition gauges and such. It not simple but not impossible. I had someone help me as Im not electricaly friendly...but now I see its not as hard as I thought. PurePontiacKid
Okay, thanks so much!!!! That's what I was hoping to hear! lol My dad's really good with wiring, so I'll try to get him to help, but I won't be able to get the swap for a long time, just tryin to gather info. Thank you again!
Evan Purple240zt
I used the pinout from the stock RB body harness and the stock 240sx harness and wired them together on my living room floor. That gave me a plug and play harness that I thankfully got right the first time. Its pretty easy. Evan
Careless
at most, your tach or your speedo might be off and you may lose some car features like digital dash or some other model-specific amenities/accessories, but those you can figure out once the car is running.
