big-phil
the car has run great with single coil and multiple dwell settings. I switched to MSD with a fixed dwell of 50% duty cycle. well I've been having a stumble at anything above 12-13 lbs of boost. It pulls hard to 6+k rpm until I try 14lbs or higher boost. Sometimes it will pull 14+ but most of the time it will not. I've been reading the megamanual and I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I have low imp. RC 750cc injectors and have no PWM set, and have no resistors in line with each injector. from what I've read I need a 5-8ohm 20-25watt resistor in line with each injector? right? I've run my car for about 2 years like this, until MSD about a month ago. could this be where my stumble is coming from? I think yes. cygnusx1
You are a true rebel! Got caught with your resistors down! I also see you are following the man-code of reading the manual AFTER the project is complete. NICE.
Jer260Z
Big phil... Great vids on youtube! I haven't owned a z since 85 (76 - 280). I found a deal that (believe it or not) my wife would not let me pass up - but it took several weeks to work out getting it to jersey. before that, I did some searching on youtube and ran across your videos, great stuff. Got me pumped for the long road ahead. Your Z is awesome!

jeffer949
What board do you have 2.2 or 3.0? the 3.0 has a active flyback circuit to where you dont need the resistor pack.

I'm 99% sure its 3.0 but I could not find a PWM setting in megatune?
cygnusx1
Phil, I know my setup fairly well and if I was running low imp. injectors, I think I would need resistors. I run the MSII with the v2.687 firmware. It's about two years old now.

big-phil
ok I got it pwm current limit % is set to 30 pwm time threshold is 1.2 ms plugs are ngk bpr7es-11 wires are .... accell 8mm super radio suppression

big-phil
bummer, must be something else. coil is not loosing power, neither is the fuel pump. hmmmmm
big-phil
Signs of an impending flyback failure are: MegaSquirt® will often require higher PWM% over time, The engine may start running erratically, especially at higher speeds and loads, the injectors may 'stick' open and flood the engine I'm going to try going to resistors just to make sure I'm not having a flyback failure I've check everything else and I'm loosing my mind. spotfitz
I've check everything else and I'm loosing my mind. Last I saw you, I thought you lost that a long time ago. LOL Do you have a power filter on the MSD power wire?
