Am I Welcome?

I was wondering how long it would be till you showed up! you are not the only one with a mega-V6...John Scott has a blown 4.3L in his car and from the sound of it the thing is a real screamer. This site should be called hyperhybridZ or equivilent because everybody here is not as much concerned about the # of cylinders as we are about going too fast with almost any alternative power plant. How is the GN running anyhooo???

Thanks, folks.

Would love to know more about that blown V-6. The GNZ is doing great, but everytime I think I am ready to run it something else needs attention. Just completed a swapover to a Griffin with a junkyard 16" fan built into a 18.5x18.5 shroud that looks like it was made for it. Now I am getting a really loud noise from the LSD but I am beginning to suspect something is touching and generating some nasty harmonics. I have no intention of laying under the car while sometime guns it IN DRIVE!! The brakes wont hold beyond 1500RPMs so I have no boost off the line and I am only running 17psi with a 93-octane chip so I need to get a transbrake. Other than that I have this big grin on my face in anticipation of really maxing this thing out.

Has anyone tried the 4" holes with the small fans yet and what is your opinion?

Darth, did you see my email about the adapter?

Wait a cotton pickin' minute, Scottie! I wanted to be the ONLY V6 here....just kidding of course! Welcome to our sandbox. Looking forward to swapping stories, making comparisons. Be glad to fill you in on my 430z. Just got a earful, or should I say screenfull of information from the Syclone/Typhoon lunatics (20-26lbs) 2 second 0-60s, 10 second 1/4s 3500 lbs!.

The GN is a killer engine! LOTs of hp potential in the v6s as you well know. Send some pictures to the site!

John, the GM V-6 engines are one of the best kept secrets. Have a friend here in Orlando with an 87 GN full body/interior, a/c weighing 3700 w/driver and it runs 10.3 @ 135. Do the math and its 700+hp and very mild-mannered.

Myron, the 10-sec GN-Z is not mine but it wont be long before I am there. I just swapped out a L28T. The GN engine is basically stock but I expect about 360+hp now and 450+ with a turbo upgrade, headwork and mild cam. That should put it in the high-10s with good traction. The car gained a little over 60lbs.

I plan to updates my pictures this weekend with the Griffin installed.

Secrets out now, Scottie. With a looser converter and trans brake you would explode off the line! I'm planning a bottom end upgrade. Found a good source for some radical bowtie heads and even the Pontiac style heads (like the Brodix -10s) Found one aftermarket source for oddfire cranks. Many claiming 5-600 are using stock crankshafts! Already running 7.5:1 forged. I want to keep it streetable, but be able to bump up the pressure in the 20s for the weekend warrior bouts. My supercharger, a Procharger 600B(billit impeller) can push enough cfm to handle 800 hp. I'll have to upgrade my drive from the 8rib to the 10 if I plan to go much higher. Intercooler is also in the works.I have one acquaintance that dyno'd his Syclone and had over 400 lb/ft at the rear! This was a mostly stock motor! Many are claiming well into the 500s lb/ft. Interesting about your powerless low rpm. Mine acts the same. Can't get 13-1500 from the converter. (I thought the turbos could spool up under torque braking?)The car is light and with no compression, small displacement, and big cam...a scared dog could beat me accross the intersection! Then, watch out! Stay in touch, this could be interesting!

Me too Ron, but I am feeling a little intimidated. I mean I am setting over here with over 500 cubic inches and I am reading about a v6 running 10.30's. thats flat *&%4 flying!

I am "2" short of a V-8 (Buick GN), hehe, but having previously built a 75/JTR/350/5-spd and a 73/Scarab/350/4-spd I have a soft spot for the V-8 Z. Hopefully you will all let me play in your sandbox, albeit being a black sheep. Is'nt that a bit of irony for you V-8ers?

Scottie,

As I posted under another category, the bottom line here, as has always been my personal agenda, is the fact that we all drive a Datsun Z. I've always been a fan of Zcar modifications. I don't care how you get it down the road, or how mild or wild, we each have our own interpritation of what the ultimate Z is. You and anyone else from the internet Zcar community are welcome here. We just run things differentlly here. A little more adult, a little more focused on helping each other and less on pointing fingers and hammering each others ideas... SpencZ is an excellent example of a guy who'se ideas you read, and you think he is nuts.... Then you go to his web page and you see....THIS GUY IS NOT NUTS! This guy, like many, has a million ideas running through his head all the time. Rather than tell someone why they can't do something, I like letting them show me what they can, and even if it isn't a success, it isn't failure because they tried, probably learned, and can apply that to the next wild idea that pops up!

Welcome, and I hope to see some of your crazy ideas bounce around here!
