wingnutooa
I've got a 77 280Z and i'm trying to get my hands on a 17 Tooth speedo cog anyone go any leads as to where to get one? also whoever had the gear out last pushed it in too far and at the wrong angle and its been riding against the drive shaft for the speedo gear. you can tell the teeth arent as sharp as they should be but there are still some teeth there. i think it will still drive the gear. any suggestions other than to just try it? wingnutooa
half the people i talk to say the color will tell me what to get and the other half say color doesnt matter. its a black 17 tooth pinion.
cygnusx1
half the people i talk to say the color will tell me what to get and the other half say color doesnt matter. its a black 17 tooth pinion. They are both right. It's the number of teeth on the gear that matters. Not the color. Although Nissan's consitency will lead you to choose gears by color..but you may count the teeth if you'd like. I think I've seen white pinions as well. Not entirely sure.
X64v
Copied from a chart somewhere else, don't remember where: 16 tooth speedo pinion (yellow) = 3.36 17 tooth speedo pinion (black) = 3.54 18 tooth speedo pinion (blue) = 3.70 19 tooth speedo pinion (white) = 3.90 20 tooth speedo pinion (red) = 4.11 21 tooth speedo pinion (purple) = 4.38 22 tooth speedo pinion (orange) = ? 23 tooth speedo pinion (green) = ? I know for a fact there are at least three different gear housings, but they're simple to modify so it doesn't matter much.
