blake culp
Might be a stupid question, but what should be used to replace the front frame rails, the ones in the engine bay. I have found several posts showing pictures of the replacement and that they are using 2.5"x2.5" square tube, but nobody specifies if it is cold rolled or hot rolled. Also, basically the same question Hot or cold rolled sheet metal for patching body panels, filling in the turn signals etc.
JMortensen
Haven't seen cold rolled square tube, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist though. Cold rolled sheet won't have the mill scale on it, so I'd go that way just to save yourself the hassle of grinding it off.
260DET
Guess the US would have structural quality welded square tube made to certain standards and which is a lot stronger than mild steel. Because a lot of it is used in the building and other industries it is relatively cheap too.
Flexicoker
Unless its normalized afterwards, cold-rolled will be stronger. It will also not have any scale, and probably be more accurate.
