Guest Anonymous
Does anyone make a short throw shifter for the datsun five speed? Also mine feels really loose, Ithink it might just be some shifter bushings or something but it always feel like its in neutral even when I'm driving down the road? Thanx
evildky
you could always cut off your shifter and tap it
Mike C
There are 3 busings in the shifter. All can be had for about $6 and replaced in 30 minutes or so. Makes a HUGE difference. Somebody listed a short shifter in their catalog. MSA maybe? Don't remember. I never thought the Z shifter an inordinately long throw. As noted, you can shorten and rethread the stick for a reduced throw at the expense of some shifting effort.
Mudge
I have the early 5 speed and it is a short throw already IMO. I will have to look into the bushings.
Guest 240hybrid
MSA sells a short throw for that 5 speed. The one in MSA is supposed to reduce shifts 60%....$150.00 though, this is why Id look into cutting and tapping like evildave said. IMO it saves $$ and should work just as well while only spending time on it.
