So is this set up for a V-band flange?

I have a turbo, but the exhaust side does not have provisions of a bolt up down pipe. A turbo guy I know said its set up for a V band flange. Is this correct?!

What do you guys think

I'm sure it is, but the angle and quality of that shot makes it difficult to see the lip.

Yep the angle makes it very difficult to tell.

 

The exhaust housing should have a "lip" on it that the clamp will go around.

 

The attached pic is a bit blurry but you should get the idea of what it is your looking for.

It also doesn't have a wastegate on it, so you have to run an external gate.

Yes. That is correct. The turbo in the picture has likely never been used and is set-up for a v-band flange to be welded to the exhaust housing.

It has a flange on it. It isn't the standard thickness V-band flange, but you can use the clamp specifically made for it with a standard V-band flange on the downpipe. My Holset HE351 is the same way. It's basically the cast version of V-band; it's thicker. As I said, it will work with a standard V-band on the downpipe along with the specific clamp that came with it.
