Lewis Maudlin
I am looking for a smaller compact. I am thinking 4 cyl. Was considering a GTI or mazdaspeed3.

Lewis Maudlin
After doing a couple of hours of research online, I am leaning toward the VW GTI. All of the comparisons between it and the mazdaspeed 3 say the GTI is a better car but the mazda is faster overall. I think that can be cured with just a chip flash. Lewis Maudlin
Can you find a nice less than 50k mile bmw 3 series in under 20k? I don't think you can unless you find an old low mileage one.

Lewis Maudlin
Yeah, I guess I might be able to find a 7 year old bmw that would work. I should have put that in my criteria, I don't really want anything more than 5 years old.

Adam393
IS300, unless you want to be constantly fixing your German auto. You can get mid 20's if you dont drive crazy, I get pretty good mileage. Great car, fun to drive, extremely reliable, very uncommon and lots of mods available
Administrators BRAAP Posted May 3, 2009 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2009 Can you find a nice less than 50k mile bmw 3 series in under 20k? I don't think you can unless you find an old low mileage one. I found quite a few 3 series, '03 and newer, (over 150 cars within 500 miles of my zip code that met the 4dr, less the 50k mi and between 10k-20k range). Not sure a RWD BMW is what you are looking for or desire, but if so, here is small sample of the ones I found that did meet the criteria, except maybe for the combined mileage portion. Combined mileage for the 330 is probably not 25mpg, but is should definitely be more than 20mpg. The 325 should be closer if not able to meet your 25mpg combined, depending on driving habits of course. Found a few with as little as 18k mi in this criteria. (I've been looking specifically for a BMW as my next daily driver, with the intent of installing my LSx)… http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=259333796&dealer_id=63870503&car_year=2004&rdm=1241316031714&num_records=75&model=330I&make3=&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model2=M3&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=38&standard=false http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=254277420&dealer_id=63519365&car_year=2004&rdm=1241316031714&num_records=75&model=330I&make3=&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model2=M3&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=159&standard=false http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=257874769&dealer_id=54303346&car_year=2006&rdm=1241316651283&num_records=75&model=BMW325&make3=BMW&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model3=325CI&model2=325I&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=167&standard=false http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=254929493&dealer_id=54303346&car_year=2006&rdm=1241316651283&num_records=75&model=BMW325&make3=BMW&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model3=325CI&model2=325I&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=167&standard=false http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=261612528&dealer_id=1050441&car_year=2005&rdm=1241316651283&num_records=75&model=BMW325&make3=BMW&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model3=325CI&model2=325I&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=513&standard=false http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=261634328&dealer_id=1384640&car_year=2005&rdm=1241316651283&num_records=75&model=BMW325&make3=BMW&systime=&make2=BMW&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1992&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=500&marketZipError=false&model3=325CI&model2=325I&search_lang=en&sownerid=585544&showZipError=n&make=BMW&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=10000&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=97055&advanced=&end_year=2006&transmission=&doors=&max_price=20000&cardist=127&standard=false And there tons more. Pete84
How many people are you planning to pack in the car? Luggage? Load up a car with 3 or 4 people and their luggage, and I have found 4 bangers to struggle accelerating or going up hills, even city driving becomes much more sluggish. Might want to consider a 6 cylinder, just saying.

You must be driving weak 4 cylinders. There are weak 6 cylinders and a 1970's V8 350sbc was only rated at 170 hp. The only lexus's and bmw's I can find in my area are either 2004 or older (6 years) or more than 50,000 miles or cost more than 20k.
