KenshinX
I really got tired of looking at the little rust spots on my floor pans getting worse because of my leaking windshield rubber. Well my rubber will be replaced soon so I decided to go ahead and re-coat the floors the best I can until I can afford to put her on a rotissery and do it right. College first! But I don't want her to rot; I got lucky to have pans in this condition. Here are the results. I may por15 them later. I Used: -Rustoleum Professional Primer $5 -Rustoleum Profession Semi Gloss Black $5 -Painter tape (Dollar Store sells the blue paint tape!) $1 -Free news papers *Freebie -Drill and Wire brush attachment $2 -220-500 grit sand paper w/block $3 -Rubber mallet (to hammer floor dents) $3 -Putty knife/screw driver/heat gun to remove rubber coat. *Freebies Total cost $19 Before with rubber coat/"sound deadening": After removing the "factory" rubber under coating: Sanding the rust: Prime: Semi Gloss black: Cans: I guess you could roll it on or use High density brushes, but I think it will cost a little more considering the brushes, rollers, and mineral spirits etc. I didnt want to use 3M rubberized coating because I wanted to be able to remove it easily later down the road. I may Por15 them later.
dan5138
Rustoleum primer is pretty nasty in its own right. Acetone won't touch it, gotta bust out the aircraft stripper! Nice work on the floor boards, very cost effective fix.

Blown77Z
Did you pull the rubber plugs out and get the area under the lip of them? I found some rust under mine when I redid my floors....

Pharaohabq
you might check your Cowel area to reseal that. that's usually where the leaks come in rather than actually at the windshield. just take loose the cowel, and clean and reseal with good black RTV sealer. the make sure the drain tubes are clear of crud, and you should be all good for not leaking... piston
Your floor pans looks pretty good before you even treated it. Im using navel jelly which is a rust desolver and rinsing it with water. Turns the rust spot black instantly and prime it after.
