Hi hybridz members, I just pick up a early white 74 260z. The owner had sold the motor with transmission, and everything else is still attach. The other day I just pick up an full swap from n/a 75 280z that came with engine harness, computer, amf, intake plus intake box. I know that almost everything from the 75 will bolt into my 260, but not unsure if the 75 harness will bolt into the 260 since it's a carburetor setup. I was talking to my friend the other day and he told me that I will need to wire the ignition wires from the 75 harness into my 260 ignition, then will need to wire up the fuel pump, then I should be able to start the car. I have search and seen many for the l28et swap, and nothing so far about what I'm looking for. So anyone, please confirm if my friend is correct? Plus anyone who experience in the swap or know any information about it, can please help or direct me to a link that will answer my question. I just want to get my facts straight before I start the swap. Thanks

Okay, I managed to pick up some more details about the harness swap from other members. I forgotten to pull off the relays from the owners 75 280z. But today I was at the junk-yard and managed to pick up the missing relays. Now I’m stuck with some wires from the end connectors from the computer in figure A. I believe that the “box red†I had mark is what I need to wire into my 74 ignition key wires. Now I don’t have a clue where I should hook up these wires, “box green†plug and the 2 white wires from the “black boxâ€. my question is, does the “green box†and the “black box†wires need to be hook-up, or just leave it as is. So anyone please help.

Get a Factory Service Manual, or if you can't find it a Haynes/Chilton's Manual. I have never seen one for an S30 but I assume they will have a wiring diagram in there.

I'm having to go through my 78's wiring currently as well - The sub harness that runs from the steering column to the EFI harness is a four wire connector. I forgot what the 'green box' conenctor is atm

Okay new update. I was reading some through some form here and was managed to get more information about fig. a pix. the red box plug, there is 4 wires. 2 green and 2 white. The 2 white wires are “hot when on” and the other one is the “start signal”. In order to know which wire is which I will need a multi-meter to find out which white wire it is. As for the 2 green I don’t know what they are. so anyone that has into to it please reply.

I was looking through my 280z harness today and wasn’t sure what this other end is in Fig. b “red box†and “blue boxâ€. This is the end plug that is next to the coil. Is this the ignition plug? Also I was looking through my 260z harness from the car and it appears to have a 6 wire plug also, but it is connective to a relay onto the engine bay. My question is, are these two function the same? Any clue anyone?
