DatsunKing1 Posted September 13, 2009 Share Posted September 13, 2009 What trannys will fit on an 83' 280zx N/A coupe 5 speed? my tranny just went and I need to get that thing running again. 280zx 5 speeds are hard to find in PA. will a 280z 5 speed work? naviathan Posted September 13, 2009 Share Posted September 13, 2009 Only Nissan L series transmissions will fit it without doing a bunch of modifications. The 240SX trans will fit if you swap the bell housings but that requires a bit of machine work. You end up with a better transmission though. DatsunKing1 Posted September 14, 2009 Author Share Posted September 14, 2009 Found out it was the countershaft bearing that fell apart/exploded that was creating the problem. The trann has less that 100k miles on it, so I was like WTF when the rattling/horrible noises started.
