jacob80
Hey guys, So I've pretty much confirmed that my head gasket is bad but tell me what you think. Sign number one is that there is oil on the side of the block on both sides, nothing extreme but its there. I questioned whether it was from the valve cover gasket but I looked on the underside up under the exhaust manifold and it was there too!! Additionally, while changing my oil, I watched it drip and it looks as though the oil has acquired a nice fluorescent green color aka the color of coolant. My question is should I bother jamming the timing chain with the piece of wood or should I just take the front cover off and replace that gasket to be safe? I plan on taking the head down to the machine shop and make sure its true. Its kind of a bummer because we just rebuilt this motor a couple months ago and I believe it could possibly have been caused by timing issues within megasquirt. All cylinders are putting out ~135 psi, which I'm surprised for a bad head gasket. Oh and the car seems to be overheating lately too....so all signs point to head gasket if you ask me. Let me know your opinion, thanks! (L28ET stock from oil pan to valve cover)
jc052685
You know nissan has a actual part number for a timming chain wedge..... I just cut a peice of 1x4 into a wedge and go to town. Do yourself a favor and tie either some strong string or a coat hanger to it so you cab pull it back out.
