2.8.0.z.x
Hey all, On the MSnS Installation Guide (http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=88246) under "Variable Reluctor Distributor" it seems to suggest the stock '79 VR distributor may be used to trigger MSnS. Am I right in thinking this? If so, when using Direct Coil Control (IGBT) can the schematic be modified to use only one GM HEI (connected to the magnetic pickup) to trigger MSnS? I'm trying to avoid having to buy an '82/'83 dizzy/shaft with the CAS just to get it working. Thanks for the info.
Matt Cramer
It can be used, biggest issue is how to lock out the mechanical advance. Are you using a V2.2 or V3.0/V3.57 board?
2.8.0.z.x
I plan on using a V3.0 board. Can the mechanical advance be locked out w/ some JB Weld on the advance slots in the dizzy?
mikeatrpi
With the 3.0 board you shouldn't need the HEI module. You can remove the vacuum advance actuator, then weld (JB should work fine too) on this set of pieces: You'll also want to weld the center shaft to this part where the screw is. That's very important - I skipped that step, timing went way advanced, and I blew my head gasket....! So, don't do that...!! Also you will need shielded wire for the VR, and some - myself included - have needed to use Magnecor ignition wires to further cut down on noise.
