Guest BadKarmaCreepin
so i'm getting this '73 240 in pretty good condition (i think) and i want to replace the seats with something more recent and comfortable. i have a set of seats from a '92 miata that are black, and they are in PERFECT condition. 2 questions: 1) how hard are these seats to install into the car? 2) are there better seats to put in for the same amount of money (>$200)? thanks. pparaska
Lone did this swap. I looked at the seats and it looked like it was dirt simple. I think one of the dimensions (bolt to bolt across seat) was the same as the Z.
Guest Tim78zt
hey Dan, sorry I can't speak either way about the Miata seats, but I really like the '91 Honda Prelude Si seats in my car (78 280). Tim78zt
Guest Anonymous
I second the Prelude seats. My friend has a 92 'Lude and the seats are great!!! Hope this helps, Mark

Mike C
Can't argue with you much if they are already paid for... I have a set of seats from a 91 Eclipse in my car. Front bolts line up, just had to remove the foot fromt the rear of the track and tack weld a stud to it. They have the same shape as the Z seat and fit well. I'm 6' and if I was any taller that might be an issue... These have mechanically adjusted tracks and lumbar so wiring/switching is not a problem. I had a set of Talon sport seats for awhile that were more comfortable with mechanical thigh support and larger bolsters, but they don't look as nice color wise as my eclipse seats. Oops, these are the Talon seats. I'll see if I can find a photo of the Eclipse seats.
denny411
my concern is seat height. I like the way the stocks seats cradle you but also would like somthing newer and more comfortable. Suggestions?
Guest Anonymous
I basically bolted the Z's seat slides onto the Miata seats and used about 3/4 inch spacer due to the miata stamped seat base vs the Z's tube frame, I redrilled two holes in the stock Datsun seat risers and put them in place. I think they're fairly comfortable, its weird, its not like you think they're cushy or comfy, but on my 13 hour straight to Tempe trip, I never once even thought, damn this is uncomfortable. I take that to mean they do the job and the fact that you don't notice them must make them comfy enough for at least my numbed skull. Guest Anonymous
Hey, you guys need to trade backs and headrest, that way the seats would be one color. J/K... Ps: Height is a consideration if your tall, or plan on racing with a helmet on. I probably could have just used the miata seat tracks and modified the seat risers for more clearance, I'm short though, so no problem for me. Regards, Lone Pps: I believe the miata seats are on one of my pages on the my website.
