jay260z
Is anyone using remote oil filters with there sbc swaps to make filter changes easier? My car has long tube headers witch run under the filter and its a royal pain to change the filter and not make a huge mess all over the header. Im not sure what parts to buy if i do move the filter off the block, witch one of these would be a better choice of the two. this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTR-22-580/ or this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTR-22-592/ thanks
Administrators BRAAP Posted October 7, 2009 Administrators Share Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) I did a remote oil filter, placed it on 45 degree angle, driver-side frame rail forward of the rack, just behind the radiator. Made oil changes a breeze and did allow a little more freedom in exhaust routing, not having to make room for oil filter changes. jay260z
Thats just about how im planing on mounting my oil filter. Should i to keep the bypass for the oil filter or remove it, thats the main thing im trying to figure out. What filter mount did you use for your setup? hoov100
I used a trans-dapt filter relocation plate, NPT-AN adapter, -12 AN line to the cv products filter mount, from the mount to an oil cooler and from the oil cooler back to the engine. dr_hunt
I have the trans-dapt dual filter unit on the boys z. Look for a pressure drop from your original oil pressure reading. It makes changing oil alot easier but what I was looking for is that alcohol puts water, methanol in the crank case and the dual filter elements let me be more comfortable than I was with just one filter and changine it every race.
