ARRESTmeRed04
ok i've tried to search fo it and i downloaded the FSM but i just can not figure this thing out, it runs great all the way to 4800rpm then it starts to stutter but will continue to pull to redline. If you back off the throttle just a little bit the stutter goes away. And it also only does it under a load, revs to redline with no problem in netural. since the stutter goes away when you back off i'm leaning towards the TPS but it seems ok when i check it with an ohm meter, so i'm totally stumped. Anyone have any other ideas?
woldson
Lack of fuel?
PurePontiacKid
I was thinkin the same thing, how much gas is in the tank? My car used to do that, and I pulled the small prefilter off the pickup tube and it solved the problem (although I probably should have tried to find a replacement filter, but I didn't)
ARRESTmeRed04
thats what i thought when he told me about the problem, but after looking at it(anf following him to the muffler shop) anytime he gets on it hard it'll smoke like its running rich. maybe a small fuel restriction could be starving it at that many RPMs? car sat from 03 to 08, we'll pull the pump out and check that pre-filter
Sideways
Ignition could be breaking up at higher rpms. Have you solved the problem by now? What was it if so?
ARRESTmeRed04
nope, he pulled the pick-up tube out and said it looked good and he felt around inside the tank and said it didn't feel like it had rust in it or anything. What would you suggest checking on the ignition?? the module on the dist.?
