What to do with a 280zx Turbo Donor with no Title ...

Well I was shocked, I got an amazing amount! $37.25! I spent at least $30 on blades and I'm sure the difference in electricity running the saw, but the car is gone!

 

Minus the hood and hatch, the weight came in at 620Lbs if anyone is curious.

Use the Milwaukee "Rescue Blades" and you won't go throuh but maybe two.

 

Knowing where to use what length blade is important. I wish sawzalls used a full-width clamping mechanisim, the necked-down one is prone to failure.

 

BTW, you can easily cut down the broken blades and re-use them in the saw! I do it on my 6" grinder, and it works just fine. The teeth only wear in that stroke area, so you end up using all the blade up before you switch to antoher one.

 

The 'rescue' blades are about 2X as thick, so you don't get a 'fine line' cut, but they are much more rigid and don't bend up when you punch the blade into something as easily.

Exactly! I just finished cutting up a 280Z with a Husqvarna 100cc 14" cutoff saw. My big problem was the numerous fires I started when the shower of sparks lit something else up. Its kinda fun though when the first cut is right down the middle of the car and it falls into two longitudinal sections. I stopped and thought for about 10 minutes about what I could do with 1/2 a Z... then I came to my senses and fired the saw back up.

I still have:

 

1. The entire radiator core support (that's what you want).

2. Both front frame rails from the firewall to the core support.

3. Left, center, and right front valances.

4. Engine and trans.

5. Driveshaft, diff, halfshafts, etc.

6. Complete suspension.

7. Computer.

8. Front crossmember.

9. Steering rack.

10. Steering column.

11. Pedal box.
