Arif
I got my car running decent, now I want to take care of the annoying things like repairing my fiberglass front air dam. Does anyone have any tips on repairing fiberglass that has pieces cracked off from hitting curbs ------------------ http://communities.msn.com/TurboZ
Drax240z
Get a dremel or die grinder set up, grind out the crack a bit, rough it up. Then apply new mat/resin over the crack, (probably want it on the backside too) and sand it out. Probably the most important part is to make sure your surface is good and rough before you apply new glass, as it will stick a bunch better. I've had good sucess with this method. If you needed to do some fine filling there is no reason you couldn't use a plastic or fibreglass body filler as well. (again, surface prep is important) ------------------ Drax240z 1972 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.home.net/drax77/newpage.html
Guest Anonymous
If you stop drill any cracks before repairing the glass, it will HUGELY help prevent future damage from re-appearing in the same spot. ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com

Guest Anonymous
Stop drilling the cracks is just drilling a hole where the crack ends thus stopping the crack. Its done with metal as well. Its a good idea. Lone

pparaska
Yep. Stop drilling is an tried and true way of stopping cracks in things that have cyclic loading in particular. A Cymble - well I think that's a cyclic load .
DavyZ
Seems to me you could also stop a crack in your front windshield by drilling at the end of the crack...It would at least buy you some time before the whole thing falls apart.
