deja
It took me a week but the 5 lug conversion is finally finished. I decided to go the expensive route and got Modern Motorsports zero offset front hubs and billet rear stub axels with 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I thought about using the 300ZX front hubs but they are hard to find and would move the wheels 3/4" outward and I didn't like that idea. The reason for this whole thing was to use the wheels I have wanted since I got this car, American Racing Troq Thrust. I got 17x8 with 0 offset and 4.5" back space. I did run into a couple issues. #1 The wheels are really made for a Mustang and have a chamfered center bore. That bore is too small to clear the MM front hubs and sit flat. Right now I "fixed" that by running a 1/4" spacer. It sticks the wheel out a little further than I'd like so I will investigate relieving the wheel's center bore a little to clear the hub. #2 For some unknown reason the rear rotors center bore is smaller than the old 4 lug rotors even though they are for the same 83-85 300ZX and were bought from the same people. The new ones don't clear the center bore on the MM axle stubs but the old ones do, go figure. It took me 3 minutes a rotor the dremel to fit.
