pparaska
Silly little question. What do you guys think of this: below the front side marker light on my dark blue Z? There will be no other shiny chrome, stainless or aluminum on the car besides the wheels: so I'm wondering what you guys think. I COULD paint them semi-gloss black or blue like the car, but I'm leaning towards leaving them chrome (just got them new from ebay).
DavyZ
Pete, it would look great either way, but I lean towards leaving them chrome, especially since you have a dark color. It'll be smashing! Davy
Guest Anonymous
Pete, nice touch. I'd leave 'em chrome. But, thats just me. tom
Guest Anonymous
Pretty cool, I'd do it! Be nice if it was a 427 badge (Motown baby!)... Regards, Lone
Drax240z
I'd leave them chrome as well.
RPMS
CHROME! They must be CHROME! Chrome on a car is like jewelry on a woman. One or two tasteful pieces can accentuate, whereas more can be a distraction.
pparaska
Thanks guys, I guess we all agree those two pieces of chrome would look good.
Mike C
Have you thought about just using the Corvettes crossed flags? I like the subtlety of the 327 emblems, though.
pparaska
Yeah, I'd seen that, but I wanted a more subtle approach. The font is definitely 60s, which I like . I held one up in place against the blue painted front fender under the front side marker light hole - looked pretty decent to me! It's pretty small (maybe a bit more than an inch tall, ~ 2" long) so it's not very obtrusive. Actually, these emblems went above a crossed flag emblem on the front fender of the 67 Camaro, behind the wheel.
Mike C
You'll see those quite oftern on Malibus and El Caminos of the same era also. I think even some full size cars got same emblem as well. Check out classic industries for bullet style nuts that you can put through blind panels if you want GM style emblems anywhere you can't get to the back. pparaska
Actually, I was thinking about cutting off the posts on the back of the emblem and using custom trimmed double sided sticky tape that wouldn't show. Don't like putting holes in panels.
Kevin Shasteen
I also like the "Subtle" approach & agree that a few chrome badges really set off a car/anything more is gaudy. Kevin, (Yea,Still an Inliner)
DavyZ
Pete, I just had a brainstorm: Gold-plate all the emblems on the car!! Then wear a gold chain around your neck and add some shiny/gaudy gold framed sunglasses to your outfit and you'd be just about there! pparaska
Uhh....YEAH! That'd fit my personality to a "T", right Davy?
Guest Fast Frog
Pete: I think it would look great!! Even with '57 Corvette flags underneath! As you know, I've got '57 Vette flags with a Mopar 383 sitting above them on each side of the car just in front of the front wheel well. I get raves and compliments all the time!
