Floorpan dent removal

Hello,

 

I have a fairly large upward dent in my driver's floorpan. Light hammering does nothing. Should I just beat on it till it moves or should I cut it to relieve the pressure then beat on it? I'm lost on this one.

I have always used concrete bags to remove dents just sit it on it and let gravity do its thing. Works good on floor pans.

Get a bigger hammer?

I would do it like any other body work. Hammers. Hammer it, hit it hard, obviously not to hard but hit it hard. You can work the metal to smooth it out a little better after you work the larger dent out. Pictures would help.

As a general rule.........a LARGE PLASTIC DEAD BLOW hammer works very well.

if you are going to HAMMER use a cut wood block it will spread the impact area and allow for a smoother finish...

I had the same problem. It looked like the previous owner had used a bottle jack on the floor of the car in an attempt to lift the car.

 

I used a piece of 2x4 board against the floor, then hit the wood with a really big hammer until the dent was smoothed out.

Thanks all, a big hammer and a 2x4 sounds like the best approach...
