chop the top!

hey guys just kinda curious on wether any of you guys have ever seeen a Z or ZX with a chopped top? i was thinking it would look pretty good if you could pull off reshaping the lines in the back to look like it was stock that way. it would have to be pretty hard to do this considering tha back slopes down instead of a straight drop down like say a truck.

i was entertaining the idea in my head for a while and was wondering if the aerodynamic benefits would be worth the trouble for say something like a 2-4" chop. that would help lower your frontale area pretty good i would think and in turn put less drag on the motor right?

If I am not mistaken the green Z convertable Mikelly is referring to belongs to Mike Perrot, son of Pierre Perrot i.e. Pierre Z Car of Southern California. He is the one who Nissan contracted to do the 240Z Car restorations. FYI his E-mail address is: www.PIERREZMAN@aol.com, His shop tele is: 310.644.3645

Hope this information is of some help.

Comps and holiday wishes,

Van, do you know if this is the same Pierre that built a custom flared silver Z I saw on the web, supposedly he was going to build a few of these kits for resale and I'd really like one.

Les:

Yes, the custom silverZ with the red interior and the blonde sitting inside is the same individual. (The blonde is Pierre's wife). He and mike both mentioned putting together some kits similar to the silver Z. You just might want to give him a call. Be aware, however, he is a bit of a purist...of sorts, re: engines! But give him a call or send him an email. Maticulious is a good name for him. He is very passionate about his work...and it certainly shows. If you have any other questions, just let me know.

Comps,
