getoffmyinternet
Yeah it's a tough crowd in that area. I was beginning to think that people aren't even allowed to reply in that section.
rturbo 930
Yeah it's a tough crowd in that area. I was beginning to think that people aren't even allowed to reply in that section. Up until recently, we weren't. I'm guessing some people still aren't aware we can post there now.
xxxpatsabxxx
i guess that explains why there is so little viewers, but i hope this can get some people in that area because there are alot of guys down there who put alot of effort into documenting their builds but they arent get any lovin, if you get what im saying. getoffmyinternet
Up until recently, we weren't. I'm guessing some people still aren't aware we can post there now. Ah that explains it. I was thinking that I didn't remember being able to... Yes it's true most do spend a lot of time and effort on them and need lovin. Mine however is mostly just dribble, so I understand the no replies. That's some fine camera work there btw.
240zBoy
Looks great. I was wondering if you like the quality of that roll and cut carpet cause I love the price of that stuff and was thinking of doing that over an MSA kit.
xxxpatsabxxx
oh gosh, for the price the quality is great its soft yet durable and it doesnt seem to rip very easily... all youve got to do is cut it to the desired specifications (make sure u have some sharp scissors or itll take a while). and glue it down with some spray adhesive. i did my car with 2 rolls and i think i still have the measurements i took for the front of the car if you need them. roughly $18 in carpet and $15 on glue (3m isnt cheap) ... maybe around 3 hours of work if youre determined. tomorrow im going to the JY to try and pick up some weatherstripping and the 94' honda window motor. at autozone im going to get $20 worth of parts (so i can u my rewards card) i need to buy - Oil - Spark Plugs - plug wires - windshield wipers - Rain X - silicon glue - valve cover gasket hopefully i can get stuff done now that i graduated Edited June 5, 2010 by xxxpatsabxxx
xxxpatsabxxx
as for the work i did this week it hasnt been much because i had my graduation ceremony. but i prepped my door jambs for paint, painted the underside of my hood, cleaned the door strikers, reclaimed the identification badge in the driver side door jamb, got the y pipe from msa, and cut off the told flanges on my headers. here are some of the pics, ill take more when i find the time Edited June 5, 2010 by xxxpatsabxxx

Junkyard - Weatherstripping from a Kia Sportage for the doors - Hatch seal from an early RX7 FC for the hatch - Windshield wiper motor from an early honda accord Home Depot - Great stuff for wide gaps - 4 bolts for the balance tube - 2 hole plugs for the passenger side holes - 2 rolls of foil tape for soundproofing Lowes - 1 roll or 6' x 9' carpet padding for sound proofing - roll of blue painters tape - roll of plastic sheeting to go along with the tape for painting the door jambs carpet padding in the back and most other items adhesive and spray foam bolts, caps, oil filter, blue tape, and plastic film foil tape honda motor was smaller than i thought it would be all weatherstrip in a pile tapped and died the holes for the balance tubes cut off old header flanges pretty beat up, going to paint it msa pipe was smaller than my header pipe needs to get expanded door jamb ready for paint Edited June 5, 2010 by xxxpatsabxxx

xxxpatsabxxx
all right so went and returned the old thick padding but the thinner material cost almost twice as much because you have to buy in large quantities... now im stuck in a rut. =|
xxxpatsabxxx
so its getting hot here now... 100 degrees before noon so work is slowing down. but i got alot done today. -tracked down a better sound proofing tape. -ripped out old weather strip -painted door jambs -removed hatch -prepped hatch for paint -repurchased old carpet padding -plugged hole in passenger side floor pan -bought new wipers i take alot of pictures because i enjoy seeing progress. hope you guys like them and feel free to drop me a line. new bolts have a little bit of play cracked and you can see some water in the car water getting over the seal i need to find out where to get this replaced too its way worse in person good prep work pretty nice having matching door jambs this is the what i was supposed to get from the start there it is this will make things easier plugged with silicon and the cap from home depot no hatch and everything cleaned out im impressed anyone know where i can get this stripping? xxxpatsabxxx
gosh it was ridiculously hot today and i am sunburned from working ... but the work carries on ... today's list of accomplished tasks - painted rear hatch jambs - plugged the other passenger side hole - put the quick roof material down in the hatch area, spare tire area, driver and passenger areas, and in the 2 small compartments - went to autozone and bought oil

xxxpatsabxxx
i cant believe how great everything looks now that its put back together, all the carpet is in, the weather stripping is perfect, all the door jambs match, and the hatch is on and closes beautifully with the RX7 weather seal. reply if you want to see pictures so i can see if anyone reads this. =) -PatSab
lawsonmahoney
I'm reading this!! RX7 stripping works? I might have to use that. Lets see some pics! Where did you end up finding stripping for the door?
xxxpatsabxxx
YAY! thanks for the reply. and yes the RX7 FC rear hatch seal works, i was skeptical when i first heard it from Crazyoctopus in the members projects section. surprisingly i got everything (kia spotage seals, Rx7 seal, and the honda wiper motor) all in one trip to the junkyard. everything came out to be around $30. the weather stripping was in pretty good condition but there was so much extra from each seal i easily cut out the sections that werent needed (there was about 1 foot extra per seal). im going to do the window wiper motor mod tomorrow, or at least try to... and hopefully i can go out to the zcarparts shop and pick up an exhaust system, im thinking about the $220 performance setup. as for the pictures.... i will take them tomorrow in the morning because its dark now. thanks for viewing! it means alot to me that there are viewers out there =) -PatSab Edited June 9, 2010 by xxxpatsabxxx
