BluDestiny
First question is about the exhaust. I have a 6-1 exhaust that was originally on a 280z, and it didn't have an O2 bung. So I went to a local muffler shop and got on O2 bung welded in at the collector. Now, the question is when I install it is how do I block off the EGR line? Should I clip it and just put a cap on it? Or completely remove the hard line and put a bolt in the intake. Second question about the intake. I want to install an shaved N42 non egr intake on my Z. The problem is that my year ZX (81) has the intake that has the idle screw as part of the intake. How would I go about installing the intake? I don't even know how to go about it because there are a lot of problems with messing with the harness. I'm pretty sure it would have been easier if I had an earlier model with the idle screw on the throttle body.
BluDestiny
I should also clarify, I'm doing the headers now, and I'm doing the intake way down the road. Hence why I'm asking about what to do with the EGR hardline
bluezx
Another option is to remove the egr and make a block-off plate to bolt in place. Just like you would block off the mechanical fuel pump on a V8 when using an electric pump. Can you get away without an egr valve in socal? You might want to do it like this so it can be bolted back on and it's pipe tied back in to your header if need be to pass smog.
BluDestiny
The car is actually registered in florida, and is considered a classic because it's 30 years old. it doesn't have any smog laws that I'm aware of. I'm putting the intake/exhaust on because I want my engine bay to look clean. I was thinking about just removing the egr valve, but there are so many little hardlines that I'm just going to replace it all together when I figue out how to
FlatBlack
I don't understand your intake question. What are you asking about? Anyways, did a search for you. [i have personally read threads here where both questions have been covered] http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/85679-intake-manifold-clean-up-info/page__p__812855__hl__shaved+intake+manifold__fromsearch__1#entry812855 http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/78935-removing-intakeexhaust-manifold-help/page__p__750023__hl__shaved+intake+manifold__fromsearch__1#entry750023 http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/75982-shaved-intake-280zx-now-wont-start/page__st__20__p__737550__hl__shaved+intake+manifold__fromsearch__1#entry737550 Edited July 16, 2010 by FlatBlack
sticky280zx
I sell manifolds completely done for 250 all day long, shaved nice clean ones, even ones that had egr...I also just shave peoples that they send me for 100-150 just let me know when you are ready and ill do it for you. But I would have left the crap off the exhaust as you dont really need an 02 bung and just shaved a manifold. works great and looks even better.
