piddy0110
All right so after a lot of researching Ive finally decided on the l28et set up for my 1972 240z, It wasn't easy at all their are so many choices variable to mix in with each choice but i think for what i want this set up is best.I'm looking kinda for a daily driver z but also with some zing , so my whp anywhere from 200-300 nothing to crazy. So the only problem is finding a good motor to work with i fairly new to this and will try to do the work myself but might also be working with a good shop as soon as i find one ,And as far as motor mounts cross-member from what car should i get or will the stock ones work?and last would be a transmission. Sorry i have used the search button but cant find the answers and this lingo is a bit difficult since im new to Nissan and all.I just want to be pointed in the right direction sorry once again. BluDestiny
Talk to Art and Mike at Sunrise Z in Glendale, CA. You can literally go to them and ask them questions. They have tons of exp with Z'z of all kinds and a bunch of people including me swear by them. Mechanically it will be a remove and replace job, but you may need to figure out the wiring like if you want to use the stock harness or just use something like megasquirt. bagoly14
Too bad there isn't a good write-up for the l28et swap... You should do one! Anyone know if the books on amazon about building an l28et are any good? I'm contemplating getting one so I know what I'm doing in a year or so. Gollum
i think the reason there isn't a full write up is because it's actually just that easy. The only tough part could be the wiring, and there IS a thread dedicated to JUST that. Step 1: Remove old engine/trans. Step 2: Install new engine/trans. Step 3: Wire up engine harness. Step 4: Convert ignition control as shown in other thread Step 5: Wire power for fuel pump with cutoff relay Step 6: Fire her up! Step 7: Have exhaust made at local muffler shop (I'd recommend getting a custom downpipe made too, simply because the stock downpipe is a pita to work around and sits too close to the TC rod) Done. It uses the same engine mounts, bolts to the same transmissions, it IS the same engine! I'd hardly call it an "engine swap". More of just a "turbo conversion". But that's not a bad thing! Good luck with the swap. Just take it nice and slow and you'll be fine. Don't get discouraged at the first thing you can't figure out. Simply looking at all the pictures around here you'll find the answers to most of your questions.
