So as some of you know i was getting rid of my RX7 (FC) and it took me a while but someone finally wanted her, and wanted to trade. Not just any trade, but something that i have wanted for (literally) 16 years now.

a 1975 280Z that i can now call mine. I have already begun work on her with a friend of mine and we are sanding her down (previous owner had already done some body work) and getting some fresh paint on her. Then taking care of some suspension issues (4X4 issues) and of course the little things. She runs beautifully already so im not going to mess with that just yet...

i cant get my blinkers to work and apparently i dont have a heater, but other than that everything works even the AC!

 

I traded my wheels for something a little closer to period correct haha and installed some fender mirrors as well..

 

Appliance mesh, 14x7 with 0 offset....

How's it going man, I remember trying to help you with your turn sigs on Zilvia. Still no luck huh?

 

I like the hood, different idea from just blacking it out like most people.

 

haha thanks! and still no luck... i borrowed a tester from a friend and I have power TO the hazard switch but not FROM it so in between has to be the issue. For now im just enjoying her haha

 

Did you cut your springs? If so how much material did you cut away? The drop looks nice.

 

Yes I did, the front had lowering springs that really didnt seem to do anything so I cut one coil in the front and 2 coils in the rear as per instructions from this site haha

Take your hazard switch off and there should be some small scews on the bottom of it holding it together. I'm betting that yours is corroded like mine was. My hazards would work but it caused my blinkers not to work. The hazards lights are part of the blinker circuit I believe. Try cleaning out the hazard switch and see if that fixes it.

yep already did that... when I tested everything it said i had power to and from the hazard switch, but they dont work.... the hazards or the blinkers, so I have a second switch that im going to swap in today and see if that makes a difference... I have nothing against the previous owner, he is a nice guy, but should have done some more research before trying to wire everything... It was all spliced and wires were just twisted together with no covering... but all of that is fixed PROPERLY now :)

How do you like your fender mirrors? I've always written those ones off when seeing them on eBay, but they don't look so bad installed!

 

I believe they are the same ones that are on Jay28's Z. (the well known grey 2+2) How much did you pay for them? I'm not really a fan of fender mirrors but maybe I will get some for my buddy if he gets this 510 wagon.

well after I had taken apart the center and taken a good look, the hazard switch had been cut into and spliced into who knows what. I had a spare switch laying around, swapped it in, pretended to turn and "click click click click" the garage was open and I yelled with excitement and scared the people across the street haha

Ok, to answer you both: the mirrors are actually really good so far, they dont move when the engine vibrates but they are easy to adjust. For the entire 70 something dollars I paid (shipped) Im very happy with them and i can actually see when Im on the freeway or in town now haha BUT I will say... they dont do ANYTHING for you when backing up... otherwise I love them! Ill see if i can find the exact person I got mine from because they were easy to deal with and great communication.
