Dirtyzx
Hey everyone i have spent about eight hours on the site, yea i have no life, and i was wondering if a 260z dash would fit into a 280zx cockpit? thanks agian guys
280zedxt
Funny, I was thinking about this today
AKZX
Not without some modification. I don't know any details, but I don't think it would be easy. Try downloading both cars FSMs and compare them..
warrenHLS3083301
I have the dash out of my zx so I can do some rust repair, and I have a spare 240z dash. I will throw it in and post some pics later on today, I think it should fit, you may need to fab some mounts for it though.
warrenHLS3083301
here you go the dash sits a little high, 4-6 in, because the steering column is mounted too high, you could lower it and run a smaller dia wheel. it also contacts the heater controls, so you would want to use your 260z heater and piping. Dirtyzx
ohhh man, i really appreciate the effort on your part, and now that i see it in the car, hmmm idk, it looks like it takes a lot of modifications, how was fitment for the most part, what do you think i would have to do to get it in there well and good to go? thanks agian man
warrenHLS3083301
The width was perfect, fit like a glove, However, the heater will have to be swapped, And the stering column is too high. You could put some spacers between the column and the cross bar , but you would need a smaller stering wheel , or a shorter seat. Like anything it will require some fabrication. BrownBomberZ
like i told you on the phone the other night bro it would most likely fit just take some TLC to get it to fit right...maybe we can work on something when you get your butt stationed in Georgia
19762802+2
a 280z dash may fit a lot better then a 240z dash as well.
Gollum
Looks like any OEM non-stock dash fitment really. It'd be just as much work to swap in just about anything of similar width, it just takes time an ingenuity to solve all those little problems. Personally though, if I was going through all the work I'd adapt something like the S13 or S14 dash. But I guess the S30 dashes are more the right feel of era for the car.
