Well  bad news.... Reinstalled the differential and it continues to howl and clunk around. I'm a little bummed, however I pulled the unit again and I'm taking it down to a local differential/gearing shop to have the unit rebuilt so it will be bulletproof from this point forward. If it's not salvageable, I do have an extra open R200 differential that I will consider welding and running for the time being...... any thoughts on running a welded differential from the LS crowd would be welcome. Thanks, Jim

Wonder if that's why the pinion flange came loose. Mine have never done THAT! But my rearrend is awfully noisy and has been for years. I put several different diffs in = same thing. Really howls when I get off of it at the strip. I have no carpets and no resonator on my exhaust-I hear everything. Have you ever been in a Huey with the tail rotor coasting down after engine shutdown? That's what all my diffs sound like.

That has been up for debate in the LS circles for quite some time..... in genreral, LT's breath better and perform better but it's not the simple.  length, flow design, diameter all make a difference.  I went with CXR since the package was pretty complete, however I did my own Y-back for better routing and muffler choice.  I'm happy with my choice all in all.
