I emailed Walter and told him the prob. He wrote back and said this.
"the cost of pro-typin a pan for that swap is very high and current request
it would take more than 5 year to breake even. I have sold over 20o ZR200
pans over the last 2 years and only 1 or 2 have had a problem with the
fabrication of the pick-up..and pan mods..I would love to make some but I have to make a $$ too..."
the pan fabrication("pro-typin") has little to do with cost and everything to do with abilities and resources. I made 10 of them with no problem.

Matt,
I almost reconsidered doing the swap when ATI wasn't sure whether they could make the 8" race converter stall low enough for a street application. I didn't want to burn up the converter by having it constantly slipping. They have assured me that we can get a 5K stall on the converter and be usable for a daily driver. My buddy has one in his RB25 powered S13 so I will get first hand knowledge of its performance. It will be quite a while before I have mine running. Perhaps as long as 1 year. Send me an e-mail for the Tranny adapter stuff.
Here are a few pics of the new CASA.

Did you scrap the AWD idea? Or is it a big secret?
No secret, the guy never shipped me the remaining parts from the front clip.

Did you scrap the AWD idea? Or is it a big secret?
Scrapped the AWD since the guy never sent me the rest of the pieces from the front clip.

Look underneath the intercooler
-
Joel,
See anything in the pic that belongs to you?
-
Since the motor is off being built I thought I would start with the intercooler. Same core as Joel's, 24"x12"x4.5" fed by my GT42R.
Build is as follows:
Endyne Head (inconel ex/SS intake)/HKS 280 10.25's/Ferrea valvetrain/Findanza Cam gears
Carillo Rods
Endyne Custom Pistons(weisco forgings)
ATI 800hp dampner
My custom pan
GT42R
custom 321SS/Inconel exhaust manifold
Custom dual plenum intake with dual 70mm TB's
160lb Bosch injectors
Tech 3
custom fuel rail
N1 water pump
Nismo oil pump
ATI GM tranny adapter (SFI flexplate/8" race converter)
JW bell with turbo 400 (full manual transbrake)
Am I forgetting anything?
BTW, anyone need a complete Ka24de setup? tranny, ecu, motor, yada yada yada? $500 and runs like a champ.
I want to spare no expense on this project.

Joel,
The pan is looking good. As far as the ac, you could have used an intermediate mounting plate to move the compressor up .5"-.75". That may help to solve the problem.
-
Can anyone fill in the missing information? I have searched this forum and did not find the info I was looking for.

I will have to make sure Jon Taylor sees this post.. his Air filter is just touching his hood as well.
Take care man.
I can't be blamed for that one!
-
For all the money you paid to have the swap done, the guy should have made sure the front turbo did not hit the hood. I would drive to his house and kick his a$$. BTW, congratulations on the recent results. Green Tea BABY!

Me have some of the necessary pans.
-
Please see classifieds under engine parts

Funny... When I asked you back in Dec. you told me they had all been sold.
Technically no, but requests were made. I don't want to finish the pans because my plate is full. For those that want to fab the pickup and baffles they can purchase a nice pan for cheap.
-
Jamie,
I have made 10 of these pans so they are available without baffling if anyone is interested in purchasing one. You will need to fab your own pickup and baffling. Cost is $300.
It is best to make a solid jig to bolt it to while welding. Otherwise it will have warpage on the flange. All the pans I did came out virtually flat by bolting it to the jig while welding. Nice job...looks familiar.

T3/TO4B
Stage V turbine wheel/.63 a/r turbine housing
T04B hi-fi compressor wheel (55lbs/min) (This will outflow the E housing according to James Thagard which I bought the turbo from)
That compressor wheel was designed to work with the B housing. That is not to say you couldn't shove some massive wheel in an e-housing and it would then flow more. Don't let the fact that the e-housing is smaller in diameter fool you. It is much thicker than the e-housing. The twinturbo ZR-1 corvette project I just finished uses 2x GT30R turbocharger with 55lb/min wheels that we ended up using B-housings because of space limitations. The car made 565hp@wheels with 7.5psi of boost. My buddies Z31 turbo made 375hp/409ft-lbs @wheels at 19psi with this same turbo and that was on pump gas. BTW, he only had the stage III turbine wheel. You won't be disappointed.

Jamie,
Those are my desired numbers. He told me the 2JZ heads only flow ~225cfm stock and fully worked they are getting about 318cfm on the intake ports. Now, the Honda B-series heads are another story. He is able to get ~380cfm from the intake ports on those heads. His initial comments were the combustion chambers were deep as compared to the Honda B-series or the 2JZ. This is not optimal for reducing detonation. However, unlike the 2JZ head the intake ports for the RB are straight. We will have a thorough discussion regarding the head Tuesday once his plate is clear. They do very nice work and I have high expectations.
-
I had Matt send me a pair of 280/10.25's from HKS. I will have the head modded to accept 11.25's if I choose to upgrade later.
Head is currently at Endyne for some major porting. Shooting for ~325cfm on the intake ports. I purchased the following parts for the head:
HKS 280/10.2's
Ferrea Springs
Ferrea Titanium Retainers
Ferrea Seat Locators
Fidanza Cam gears
Endyne Custom Inconel Exhaust Valves
Endyne Custom Stainless Intake Valves
Depending on their recommendation I may have them make me a custom set of pistons to optimize combustion efficiency. That would mean I need to sell my current JE forged setup.
Don't ask about progress, it will be atleast a 3-4 month before we have information. He has my head and parts along with my spare head that I have given them permission to do with as they require.

I have been running the Euro dampner for years without any problems. Alignment is dead nuts. Does require a special bolt and washer to work.
-
The new ATI 800hp Dampner is now available from ATI. You can see pics on the following site. They also sell a smaller diameter pulley for 600hp. These have all the pulleys to run the stock accessories.

ATI has also now released their tranny adapter to bolt any GM/Olds trans to the RB26. It reqiures that you buy their custom 8.5" converter for the swap. I have purchased one of these kits and it comes with everything that is necessary down to the bolts.
I am now a distributer for ATI so I will give good pricing to the Zcar folks who are interested. Please send me an e-mail if you want more information.

Yea, don't buy that car...it sucks!
Joe, I saw you listed a GT turbo from Precision? Call me for a good price on a new GT turbo.
Joe,
If compression permits ditch the P90 and opt for an E88 or N42 head. Contact TimZ for details on the shop that did his head. 225cfm on the intake ports and he can also help you with a good cam selection. Remember, his car is ~525hp@wheels on 94 octane @23psi.

Actually' date=' if it is the one he has had for the last couple years, it is an R31 red rocker RB20de. This is a non turbo version and to my memory did not have a tranny at the time. Still, not a bad thing to have around as a spare.

Spare What?
Doesn't a spare imply you already have one that is in use?
-
Now all you need are a set of my Race Prepped stock rods!
