I not only read this on the Kenny Brown site, but they have a video up to prove it. Blows by a good C5 that looked to have some stuff done to it. Yah, I know about the exhaust, headers, pulley, etc. I've seen some dyno charts with upwards of a 25% power gain with a chip. I'm not sure how true they are though. Anyways, it still is my mom's car. She didn't like it at first, as it was a little dificult to drive compared to her automatic Corolla. Now, she too is finding the power very addictive. She just doesn't see the necesity of having more yet. We did get the shifter, though. Hopefully, we will get that in tomorrow. I also have to figure out how to mount a front sway bar to my 1991 Civic hatch when it originally never had one. Maybe I'll get the head pulled on my Z tomorrow. I'm tired of driving around the no power Civic. Need Z!

The 2003 Cobra's are nice. My dad is getting used to the speed and power, so now he wants more. He is talking about getting my mom a Mach 1 or the Boss 302 when it comes out. These are the modern ones. He wants to get my mom another one, so he can mess with the Cobra. Kenny Brown took one, upgraded the suspension with his stuff, and put bolt on power adders. He was flying past full blown race cars while he was on Street Radials

As for the Cobra, it is supercharged and fast as hell. My parents haven't had a sports car since their 1970's Celica. Finally, compliments of my grandfather's life insurance, my mom gave us the go ahead to find her a Mustang. My dad and I being the way we are, we found her the best damn Mustang they could afford. I've only got on it a little once, but it does have a lot of power. Won't be anywhere near the capabilities of my Z when that is done.

I work at Starbucks, so I see some cops in there every once and a while. I once asked the officer if not stopping at a yield with a crosswalk is some sort of infraction - my friend got pulled over for this bogus deal. She then told me that she had no clue, and she did this with a little bit of attitude as I was supposedly below her. Then she says that they pull people all the time here for no reason. They are bored. Now that is some bull****. Another time I was following my friends Supra into a parking lot at about 11:00P to get a bite to eat. The cop sees us, we were maybe doing 32MPH in a 35, and decides he wants to recklessly whip a u-turn at the next light. I think he had some idea we were speeding around, because my friend's Supra has the big spoiler. So he sees us turning at the light as he catches up, swerves into to the left turn lane to come after us, but then decides were not worth it. He then goes barreling down the street, swerving dangerously right and into the intersection, like he is trying to catch someone else. Another time another officer (These are cops from my city, not the next one over) decides to come shrieking out of a residential area onto a main street right in front of the mini van. His lights were not on and he even had the nerve to give a look like it was my fault. As driving is a privilege, not a right, the same should be so with a badge. I've just had bad experiences with police around here and many of my friends have been pulled over for no reason at all. I know policemen or women are people too, but the badge is no means a reason to be a power tripping jerk. I apologize to all those police men and women who are trying to do their jobs properly, but I have yet to run into one that was on the job in this area.

Alright, I've never been pulled over before. Only I time I do anything dumb is on off and on ramps to the freeway. Well, its more like that has been the only thing my little Honda can do (To remind all of you again, I do own a 240Z, but an unknown problem in the head needs to be fixed before I drive it again). Well, to be on with my story, my parents just bought a new 2003 Cobra and they let me drive for the second time. I was on my way to pick up my sister from a volleyball game. A brand new M3 reved on me and tried to race. I didn't take it. One, the car only has 660 miles on and secondly, I knew better for once. Then I see two cops pulled up on me and one turned on his lights. My first thoughts, "I didn't give it gas. Oh **** my parents are going to kill me, but I didn't do anything wrong." My heart was in my throat. I began to think about all the stuff Kevin and others wrote in the speeding ticket thread. All I have to say is thank you. I pointed to where I was going; the mall parking lot. I put my heads where I could see them and made sure my brother didn't look like he was getting a gun. The officer comes up and asks me if I'm some guy by the name of Greg Imbardo. Who the hell is Greg Imbardo? He then asks my brother if that's his name after I tell him I'm Ryan. He asked for ID, looked a little surprised and handed it back to me. He said they were looking for the guy who I guess owns a similar car, as they were "worried for his health." Now that I think about it, he didn't even apologize, or say have a nice day. I would have been a little more pissed if I was in my Civic, because I wouldn't have been crappin my pants. After they left, my left leg was shakin so hard I could barely back out. I couldn't control the clutch. Just thought I'd let you know, and to say thank you for telling me how to pull over when tagged by a police officer. It kept me out of trouble and from getting a ticket just for the hell of it.

Aviatorx, I was reading your concerns about your son and your z car. I am 18, and can offer up this little teenager advice. You want to teach your son how to drive, take him to a track. Best thing I've done so far is go to a local indoor karting track and let it out. You begin to learn the limits of a 4 wheel vehicle. It hasn't been quite enough though. I would suggest a real track or a class. My next thing is karting classes at Sears Point. I once read an article, that somewhere out in the midwest, a town received a grant to open up a small racing venue. The local high school held autoshop classes which also let them learn about their car's abilities in a controlled environment. Speeding tickets in the area went down somewhere in the neighborhood of 90%. Oh, my parent's just bought a 2003 Cobra which I am getting to drive every once and a while. A little different from my 90hp Civic (My 240Z isn't running yet), which I do appreciate for being my first car. It's too slow to get into trouble, but still fun with tires, wheels, shocks, springs, and hopefully on Tues., new sway bars. Basically, if your worried about your son getting into trouble with the Z, take it out to a track or to class and let him go buck wild. It should get most of it out of him. The kart racing has definitely helped so far. No tickets other than bull**** parking tickets and haven't been pulled over once (knock on wood). Just thought it may help with the teenager perspective. Kevin, Mike, Jim, and a few others, Lots of great advice and input from all of you. Motor Trend just put out on article on how to avoid speeding tickets by riding along with a California Highway Patrolman. It actually teaches responsible driving that very few Americans seem to know about. Kevin - as for comment about our judicial system being the best, I must disagree. Money has begun to corrupt this branch of government just as it has all the others. More and more judges are receiving campaign finance from people and/or companies looking for favors. Can these municipal systems place excess revenues into a judge's campaign? If so, we may all be screwed. Now is the time for most of us to truly know what liberties and rights we possess. In light of 9-11, we must be very careful to make sure our freedoms don't go down the tube. Sorry to digress, but I learned a lot in my US Government last year. I had a great teacher who really got me heated about American politics. Anyways, enough of my ranting. It's 2:30A and I have to be to work today at 9:00A, so I can earn a little cash to finish paying for the Z.

If I remember correctly, I was reading some tidbit of information that said the 2000gt was actually behind the Z. The design for the Z was in motion before anyone knew about the gt. Of course I need to find a source for this, but I think I'm recalling it correctly. I will check though

IMHO I heard a true dual setup on a 350 w/ Magnaflow cat-back exhaust and x-pipe and it was like nothing else. Had a nice low idle, not to bubbly (cam wasn't that extreme), and was pretty quiet. When he got on the gas though, that's when I almost wet myself. I haven't heard much like it. It had this unique V8 rumble, but with this scream that I have yet to hear replicated. I'm probably going to do the same thing with mine if I ever do the V8. Starbucks only pays so much ya' know.

Oh, Edelbrock makes an 350 E-TEC EFI engine, I think, that makes about 425HP and more torque. It uses a 9:1 comp. ratio.
-
12:1 sounds high to run on pump gas, unless you have something like 94 octane where you live. The you want to add a supercharger? From the little that I do know, you're gonna need some really high octane gas to handle that. I know that most turbo cars running 15+ psi of boost usually have 8.5:1 compression or less. 2 cents from my limited knowledge

My parents are going down to south to go pick one up. It does handle pretty well though. .9 g's on the skidpad stock. We're talking about redoing the exhaust. We thought about a 15HP gain, but according to everyone it sounds like more (pun intented). The Accufab single throttle body. It made 30HP on a blown '99 Cobra. Cold air intake with K&N. We thought about 10HP there. Lastly, we'd go with a new MAF, I don't know how much gain. Oh, and we are seriously thinking about installing a pre-oiler to reduce engine wear. Then again, it is my mom's car, so I don't know how much will get done. I think it will only be done when she's at work and when my dad gets home early on Fridays. Anyway, my V8 Z should smoke it though when I'm done.

I have heard talk that with the new RX-8 coming out there has been a lot work put into redesigning apex seals. Supposedly, they are out there now or on there way. I believe I remember hearing something from Mazda about it, but I can never be sure. With the new seals, much more life can be had out of those fast @$$ litte rotaries. If anything can help to prove that, the proof that the new 2-rotor is making at least 250 naturally aspirated ponies. Personally, if you have the money a turbo 2-rotor or 3-rotor would be the way to go. Just my 2 cents.
-
What about the 3 rotor mentioned earlier. I know those things make way better torque than the 2's from the RX-7s. With a good turbo those things make a ton of power, and they rev to the sky. I think it was Turbo magazine that just came out with a story on some 3 rotor turbo that makes huge power. I'll check and get back to you. I'm pretty sure those rotaries are pretty light weight too.

What does is the cost in Oz land? I know the engines are fairly cheap over there. Thanks.
-
I apologize for my ignorance with the RB motors, but how much would it cost for a full assembly out of the states? What about Australia for either of these engines? How much do they run over their in US currency? Or, what about a TT Supra drivetrain? I know V8s make a ton of power for cheap, but I love the sound of the TT inline 6 motors. Those Supra engines and the RBs make a ton of power with basic performance upgades and turning up the boost. Thanks for putting up with the ignorant.

How does that C4 handle compared to the original Nissan IRS setup? I'm slightly dumb in this area yet, but do the R230's come with CV half shafts or are they the same as the R200? Last few questions, what do the R230 half shafts look like in comparison to the C4 and how much does the whole R230 weigh compared to the C4? Thank you for putting up with my ignorance, Ryan

I was wondering if anyone has done an LS1 conversion with the six speed? Or, if anyone knows where I could obtain the whole package (engine, tranny, electronics, ect.) for a good price? Lastly, I was wondering how the skip shift function works on the manual tranny. I don't know if I sound like an idiot and misread something, but I swear I thought I saw it on the T56. Thanks, Ryan
-
What sort of redline do you think I could get with a 327 using stock steel crankshaft and a full solid roller valvetrain setup?
-
I know I sound like an idiot to some of you for asking this, but what's the difference between a 305 and 307? Is it the .030 over? One other question for those of you that can stand me, what exactly would be involved in putting a 307(305 if there the same) crank in a 350 to make a 327? Would it be the same bore to stroke ratio as an actual 327 put in early Cameros and such? Lastly, would and of you recommend doing this? Thank you very much for your time, Ryan moridin2004@hotmail.com
-
I'm also interested. If you could email me with details, that would be great. Thanks, Ryan moridin2004@hotmail.com

Hey, where did you find that LT1 for only $1500? I'm trying to search around, so I can get the 240 done as soon as possible. I aslo heard this guy Super280Z say that you can get a T56 for about $400. That's a really good deal. I appreciate the help and good luck, seeing that I am only 17 myself.
-
Hey, Super280Z where can you get those T56's for 400 bucks? I'm on my way to get a 240 from a friend and am beginning to look at a 327 sbc and a T56.

Would you happen to know where I could find the 745i turbo engine and if so, how much?
