I'm putting my tranny back in and I'm having some problems. How hard should it be to push the lever (the one that disengages your clutch, forgot what it was called)? I'm afraid that something isn't lined up or I shifted something clutchwise while I was putting the tranny in. My second question is, why did I lose all my pedal pressure? Did I get air in the lines? I tried bleeding it once with one of those vacuum bleeders, but I'm not sure what fluid should go in the clutch system. Sorry to sound so dumb here, but I really couldn't find the answers anywhere else. Thanks for having a place to let me ask all these questions though.

Don't go with the dynamat stuff. All it does is add weight to the panels to reduce vibration. From what I've read, it doesn't really do anything for road noise. There is a company called BeQuiet I think, that makes a product called Brown Bead. Really good stuff from what I understand. Helps quiet down the car extremely well.

Also not true. See the earlier link. The larger amount of tar in marijuana is true. The difference between that and cigarettes, is the later is used many more times a day. The tar isn't necesarily primary cancer causing agent in cigarettes, the chemicals and other crap are. To ofset the tar, one can vaporize by use of a heat gun. Very little to no tar is taken in when using this technique. Yes, we do. And unless you also want to legalize crack, heroin and human slavery, then legalizing marijuana will not reduce the cost any. We will still have to patrol our borders. This is a non-issue, especially in this post September 11th world. And legalizing it would lead to additional expenses to try and regulate it. I disagree. Cut down on the millions of dollars going into advertising trying to make marijauna out to be the worst thing on earth and put this back into schools. The drug wars, were not really a war on drugs. It was a war on poor people trying to get by in other countries. Don't give me the "if you work hard, you can do anything." This may be true here, but not in many other countries. If you had the choice to sell drugs and feed your kids, or let them die, what would you do? (Sorry for going a little off topic) The one argument that makes sense. Create another stupid tax, just like lotteries, cigarettes and slot machines. However you have to look at the full cost. In my opinion the added tax revenues will not offset the increased cost of social services to mitigate the effects. Know what else? I don’t mind paying taxes as long as they are not wasted. I like living in a free country with nice roads, clean water and good schools. But that is just my opinion. Nice roads? Clean water? Good schools? Not anywhere around here. You must live in a dream world. It is much better here than many other countries, but I wouldn't say truely humane. Check out the Mississippi. G.E. dumps tons of crap into the river every day. You will never see this on the news, because I believe they own NBC. Good schools? Not in California. The colleges are excellent, but the high school's are crap. I know people that graduated that could barely spell properly (I'm probably included in this one), write a coherent sentence, or even do a basic algebra problem. This is also something I think about. I don’t believe in seat belt laws, mandatory air bags or motorcycle helmet laws for the same reason. Hell, I am a card carrying member of the NRA! However, society has a right to protect itself and in situations like this you have to weigh what might be gained over what might be lost. And, in my insignificant opinion, I see marijuana laws as a minor infringement upon personal liberties. Especially in light of the alternative. No seat belts, mandatory air bags, or motorcycle helmets would cost you more money. The medical bills alone would drive insurance through the roof. Think of how much more serious injuries in auto accidents would be. I go back to the kids thing on this. If had the choice of your kid living because an air bag was in the car or them dying, because it wasn't mandatory for the manufacturer to put it there, what would you say then? As for the protecting yourself. You should have a right, but you must look at what is truely scary. What do you need a gun to protect you from? I suggest you rent a movie called "Bowling for Columbine" when it becomes available. I'm more affraid of the Enron's and other companies stealing money. Michael Moore made a joke on Oprah. He posed the question "What is the first type of person you think of that will harm you. The consensus was some black guy with a gun. He said, he couldn't think of one black person that ever did harm to him. All the bad things in his life were the result of white people. Come to think of it, the same thing holds true for me too. Sorry to bring this up, but I believe its all important. Again, sorry to get off topic (which was never really automotive to begin with, but these things make great discussions. I think you should take any chance you can get to put these issues out in the open, even you do manage to go off on a few tangents), but I believe this was important. We live in a capitalist society. Captilize on this huge market that marijuana provides. Hemp would also be great for the economy. Legalize marijuana and you make Hemp much more available. Lets not also forget the medical benefits of the drug. I know very few of these, but I will be able to supply much more info in the on coming days. Sorry to nag on you so much here Jim, but for some research try to go outside of the America. Independent research facilities that aren't influenced by an anti-marijuana govt. may hold much more weight and won't focus so much on the tar part. I'll try and find some.

Yeah, sorry to post so late, but the monkey blower thing is a decent comment. Unfortunately any monkey with a blower can't make a motor to withstand 900 crank HP though. They are proving these motors to be tough. The 5.0 cammer is making some power though and that's w/o the blower.

I posted something about the new DOHC (quad cam) V6's that GM is building. Sounds like they will eventually shift that to the V8. With upwards of 370+ boosted HP, it may be replacing a few V8s here and there. Anyone for a boosted V6 Camaro?

Yah, there's a guy by the name of Nitrous Pete, running close to 800RWHP on the stock block other than the Kenne Bell blower. These things may prove to be as indestructable as the Supra's.

I"m affraid I've had a negative impact on my Youngest S

There isn't anything wrong with a Honda. The little 91 Std Hatchback that my cousins gave us kept me out of more trouble than anything else. I still drive the crap out of it, and haven't gotten a ticket (knock on wood). I think I hit 90MPH going down a hill once on the freeway. Going from that to the Cobra is a bit of a wake up. We started out doing suspension and wheels. The best thing to do is have your boys do the research. My dad made me do it, and man did I learn stuff. That's how I found this place when I was looking for stuff to do to my "future" Z (now current Z). Anyways, I say if they want to modify the car start with the tires. Then brakes and/or suspension, interior, and lastely the motor. You learn how to drive and keep yourself out of trouble with a lower powered car. Then when you get in something really high up there, it's a little scary which should keep you in check. Anyways, just .02 cents from an 18 year old (19 in a few days), that's still going through the whole speed is appealing stituation. P.S. Go-karts and a track also help. I go to Speedring (a little indoor karting place) and get the speed disease out there. -

Chevy has always been able to lay the hand down to Ford with power. Then again, Chevy has always been a little bigger in displacement. As to a DOHC V8 that might fit, the Northstar should do it. Relatively small from my understanding and lightweight. The http://www.chrfab.com guys are working on a bellhousing to adapt a T56 to it. I think a small displacement V8 with a set of twin ball bearing turbos would be awesome. Keep them small and they'd be ready to go at the touch of the go pedal. Plus with a AFC and boost controllers (or just a stand alone EMS) you could tune power levels on the fly. Take it down for the street, then push it out at the track. Expensive set up, but turbos are always fun. Then again, an LS1 or built 350 always sounds fun.

I know this is a little old, but I just wanted to update on the stock long block thing. Some guy on one of the SVT forums just posted a 10.06 at 131 (I think it was 131) with the stock block. This is an 03 Cobra with IRS and Kenne Bell supercharger with some exhaust and other mods. Still waiting for the motor to break. He's pushing close to 800RWHP on the stock block (and maybe fuel system, not sure yet). Anywho, the 5.0 Cammer motor looks like it might be nice with a little modding to the shock towers

Actually tobacco wouldn't be so harmful if it didn't have all the extra chemicals and crap that the cig companies put in them. I've seen what the "grass" does to people. Not good. Harmless on the off occassion, but when addictive personalities get a hold of it, stuff turns to crap. While were on the subject of drugs, don't forget to mention over the counter stuff. I personally don't trust anyone using Sudafed to drive. Legalize it and tax the hell out of it. I think they should do this with cigs and alcohol too. Make money off of people's extra activities.

Wanna be diffrent? Here's an Idea I'm thinking of.

Boxer fours are horizontally opposed, right? Doesn't that mean two heads. Two heads means two sets of exhaust ports. Sounds easier to do a twin setup on that than a single. That's only if I'm right about the design. -
I know Honda has been working with some direct injection engines. They seem to be able to run insanely lean on crap octane gas. I guess you don't lose any fuel from wetting the inside of the intake manifold. The only BMW motor that I know of using the direct injection (other than their diesel) is the V12 out of the 760i. They are probably using it in other motors as well, so anyone who knows can chime in. The new V6 is quite exciting. Hopefully light, and less length than the LS1 and other V8s. A factory turbo'ed one would be awesome for a Z.

I'm looking at a little article in Car Craft magazine right now. It seems that GM has an all new Global V6 ready to be put in some of their cars. It's an all aluminum design, quad cam, 24-valve, 60-degree, continuously variable cam timing, electronic throttle control, forged steel crank, coil-on-plug ignition, dual-stage variable intake manifold (not sure about this one), 32-bit engine control computer V6. They say after looking at the block it shows a deep skirt design (not to sure what this means, maybe someone else can chime in on this) with a structural aluminum oil pan (sounds expensive), and chain-driven cams. Seems like a recipe for success. GM promises it in almost everything it has. It will be in front and rear-wheel drive aplications (Wonder if a T56 will mate up to it, or maybe a new 6 spd with an application in the CTS). The engine displacement will range from 2.8 to 3.8L with turbo charged and direct injection on the way. Horse power will range from around 200 to "more than" 370 and torque will go from 200 lb-ft. to over 350. The first version of this motor is supposed to be 3.6L and put out around 255HP. They say the motor will initially come in the Cadillac CTS and then to Buicks, Pontiacs, and Chevy.

Anyone have any info on the Renesis motor? I guess I'll into some of that. I think that and the 6-speed would be awesome. Keep us updated on it if you end up going with the swap.

They are specifically for a 240, but I'm not sure about the fitment on a 280. There are no pre-cut vent holes or anything to do with the HVAC. Maybe someone can help with this.
-
The 327 may have a little less torque, but it won't necessary spin up quicker. From what I understand, it depends a little bit more on the weight of the internals. Scat has some really light weight stuff that is already balanced (Crank, rods, and pistons).

FRONT SUSPENSION Comments Ideas and Suggestions.

Tokico Illuminas. Good adjustability and within your price range. I'm running OE springs with them. Excellent ride quality. I think with some Eibach Pro-kit springs and the shocks, you'll be set. You may want to look into some good strut bracing to help with the stiffer springs. I know I keep playing PDK up, but I think they are a must have. Check out their website here -
I only know its for a 240. The heater controls and vents are not in place. Check PDK Fabrication for a little more info.

I don't know if you guys no about the Honda dual-note. There have been rumors that it may be used as the third-gen NSX. Well, it uses a 300HP V6 in the rear, and a 100HP electric up front. Basically, it amounts to a high performance hybrid that gets 40+ mpg. I bet they could reduce the compression a little, and the timing to use crappier gas. That's down the road though.

The video at their website (http://www.z.com) is just a trailer. You're really lucky to have gotten a hold of that. I'm still waiting for the email saying I can buy one. Hang on to that, its gonna be worth something.

When I actually had the Z running for a week, I was running it on the freeway on ramps to see how it would handle a little gas. I pulled into some parking lot, one of the guys had the nerve to say "Somethings wrong with your muffler." He was driving one of those stupid Cadillac Escalades. I just said nice SUV, and ran the the motor up into the high revs. Some people don't know what the hell they are talking about. Its called a full length header and Borla exhaust with Mikuni's up front. Ignorance with automobiles just pisses me off.

Did anyone notice the guy on the podium of the website with the wrecked Ferrari. That's the actor from "Malcom in the Middle." Yet another actor racing. If I only had the money.

I forgot to mention that the new rotaries are the ones that will be supplied with the RX-8. The sport models will have a 6-speed and 250HP NA. Slap a turbo, monster intercooler, some HPC coatings, a huge radiator, and your set. I don't think you'd have the heat problems of the old rotary.
