all you need are the mounts, so I wouldnt worry about the motors placement between the two vehicles. you should upload some pics of the truck and your progress here soon. peace.
-
the crossover pipe deffinately doesnt clear behind the motor, thats why nissan ran individual manifolds that collected under the truck between the motor and tranny. peace.
-
I know people think it wasnt available in the regular cab BUT it was I know 3-4 people on nissan customs who have them and theyre very rare. Yes you're correct about the early versions though I believe the long bed was available through the whole line up until like 93? peace.

The same with egg cups too right? Where the heck would someone find those nowadays? Good info about the drink tumblers tonyD, I have been looking for an alternative. peace.

you need a set of adapters in oreder to flip the drivers side manifold because the front lower exhaust stud ho.e doesnt line up at all, theres no provision there. I however have adapters made already so you can do this, if you want I will make a crossover pipe for you and the adapters in trade for that 300zx rear end. I will even test fit for ya so you can see how it will work. Yes the motor mounts will bolt the vg right in no problem but you will also need a pathy alternator mount because its going to be relocated to the drivers side, otherwise the passenger mount interferes. peace.

Untrue, the v6 was offered in all forms of the HB including std. cab 2wd, and 4x4. Although rare it was still an option and a damn good one. Yes, you can bolt the truck mounts to the 300 block in the stock KA location frame mounts. The adapter fanges I made helped space the turbo out and because one flange was offset when flipped and didnt line up with the holes on the head. Also, the 200sx with the vg was offered from 87-89 but thats irrelevant because the truck and pathy manifolds are the same. you wont have much luck finding a 200sx in the j-yard. peace.
-
For sure you can swing the crossover pipe out front BUT flange adapters need to be made because the hole offsets change when swung around. Since your going to all that trouble you might as well just get a set of 200sx manifolds or truck manifolds since theyre the same up until 95 that is. Then point them forward and make your own center crossover pipe, that moves the turbo just in front of the engine between the radiator and engine. I have made adapters to do just this for a custom twin turbo setup I made for a friend utilizing 200sx manifolds and two subaru ihi turbos. Its a simple crude setup that gets the job done but the flanges are all cnc'ed out. Just not everyones a fan of log stgyle turbo systems persoanlly, I dont care just as long as it makes power. Far as your mouints go and the above mentioned setup just run the stock v6 truck mounts and or pathy mounts. If you can locate a n/a v6 5speed from a 300zx and just swap the front case onto your current Ka 5speed. This will save you tons of fabrication work and it will handle more power than your BW WC t5(fs5r90a).

hey, sorry I kinda forgot about this thread but, I am pretty sure you have to hook up the green with a black stripe to a 12v source. It gives power to the coil through the power transistor. Theres a yellow wire on there as well that sends signal letting the ecu know the engine is cranking but i dont think its important. The blue wire on there is merely for the dash and tach signal as are alot of the other wires. Theres one more on there that I cant think of but I am positive the green with a black stripe is the most important. peace.

Sounds good to me. I hate it when things come up and throw a stick in the spokes. I have been so busy lately building all kinds of things for people, going to work, and school. If something happened to me or my car I would be so screwed, lol. Anyway, cant wait to hear from ya and let me know how I can help ya. peace.
-
I will take the rear end just let me know what ya want for it and how much shipping will cost to 98664. I also updated the buildup post on nissancustoms and I have a video of the truck running. peace.
-
not to be a total dick but that site isnt very good for z31 info and everyone here has to be a mamber to view the pics. Anyway, what exactly is the issue because theres only 8 wires that get that engine to run. Tell me which wires exactly your having trouble with. peace.

the crossover pipe is on all models of 300zx na or turbo but the drivers side manifold is the only one thats different. The pathy LSD will have a tag on the back of it but I was just saying it doesnt seem to be model or package dependent. It will be a small bright orange tag on the backside of the pumkin. Far as the truck exhaust goes, it reconnects under the engine in between the tranny. Far as the 300zx LSD goes the manufacturers tag will tell you when the car was built inside the drivers door jam. Also, if the rear end cover is finned aluminum that will tell you if its LSD or not. peace.

trucks dont use a crossover pipe they use manifolds for each side as does the older 200sx(right wheel drive). So, your truck was a v6, or am I missing something? No I want the rear end for my Z car that I am building but, I only want it if its an LSD. The pathy rear end thing has always kind of conused me, nissan never made an LSD vehicle in america until 4/87 that includes the entire nissan line. Theres however NO real indicators that I know of as to how they got discs, I have seen them as early as 87 and I have seen a 96 with drums. So, far as junkyard hunting goes its kind of a gamble, and some 4x4 pickups as well. The 4x4 pickup ones are a very different h233b rear end and use like 13 bolts on the third member plus a different brake setup. My friend just recently swapped out his 4x4 h233b for the pathy lSD and it was quite a pain setting up the ebrake. Anyway, let me know if ya got any more queries. peace.

the pathy lsd axle is 5/8" wider but long as you weld on the new 2wd perches in the same spot as your HB's you prolly wont notice it too much. Long as it was an 87 built around april then it will have the r30a which is the same length as all the others. At least thats been my experience that all are the same length. Run a tape on it and let me know but I am pretty sure its about 29.5" long which if it is you just need a v6 pickup drivshaft. If it turns out to be a 4/87 car I will make all the parts for ya and source you an axle from a pathy with 2wd perches for that rear end. Every single time one comes around I miss out on it and its not happening again. peace.

i thought he was the very one who told us that they didnt.
-
It looks to me like its a stock pathy setup to me with no crossover pipe because it looks like two pipes are supposed to go into the turbo inlet? When did you start this project because I have never scene it before. Also I was thinking since all fs5r30a tranny's are 29.5 inches long all you would need is a v6 driveshaft from a pickup. Let me know if you still have access to the rear end out of that z as well. peace.

your correct it is the same as the block mount flipped upside down and welded to the frame. No its not gonna cause anything to break because I have owned cars with solid engine mounts and built some with solid engine mounts. No one ever has complained about breakage and or excessive vibration, except maybe a FWD. We put solid mounts on a friends altima once and it seemed to transmit more engine noise but it wasnt annoying, besides if your building something like this its just gonna be a toy anyway. The passenger mounts stays right where it is if your going to relocate the alternator like we are. I wanted to go to a higher amperage chevy alt. with this build and the passenger mount gets in the way. Now, if you dont wanna do that then use a modified 300zx mount. Its totally up to you how you wanna do that. The turbo obviously clears the frame rails but not with a whole bunch of room to spare. I have pics of how we relocated the wastegate but I dont remember if i uploaded them yet. I can send you a modified wastegate when the time comes if you like along with a relocated alt. bracket. and when the time comes dimensions for the FMIC setup we have. These engines make 300whp reliably with a stock turbo and with these light pickups thats enough for some serious fun. I am not keeping the passenger mount a rubber unit much longer, it is merely there to see how things fit and to get the truck running. Believe me when more money gets spent I am gonna go back through the whole truck and re-do alot of things I dont like. #1 I dont like the look of bashed firewalls when sheetmetal is just as easy to weld in but its what I had to deal with. Anyway, shoot me some PM's or whatever and I can walk you through up to getting it running. peace.

you aussies have it good! all turbo models were t3 over there and never got the crappy t25. yes, z31performance.com or 88hybrid.com will help you with all your questions. peace.

I have taken lots of pics on this swap and been trying to document this swap as best that I can. I reccomend alot of things after doing this swap and none of them are quick deals either. By chance what month was the car manufactured? I am really interested in the differential if its an LSD car. check out my build thread here, http://nissancustoms.com/showthread.php?t=6309

Sounds pretty good but I wish I could see your speedo! What rpm are you spooling those t3's? I have always been curious how they would spool paired up on a six. peace.

It looked like the temp didnt even move! Thats awesome its running well, and even sounded real smooth. Congrats man. peace.

So, I am installing a vg30et in a 97 nissan pickup but I am running two ECU's, the stock KA oBD2 and the 300zx ECU. I have power to all sensors and injectors, plus the coil fires while turning the dizzy. The things I dont have working are the injectors themselves. They refuse to open or close while cranking or even when spinning the dizzy in my hand so, I know the crank angle sensor is working. I also tested other injectors to see if these were bad or just seized and I still cant get any to click. Does anyone think I may have fried the ecu? Is there a resistor pack on the 300zx's anywhere that I missed and didnt install? please help this is baffling me. peace.
-
that thing sounds really unique and beastly, now hurry up and button it up! lol. peace.
-
Both engines should be W-series VG's so I dont see why they wouldnt work together. peace.
-
ok, im gonna clarify alot of things wrong with the postings on here with the VG swap but the KA info is correct for the most part. Except for the fact you dont have to space the oil pan for the girdle clearance. You can just use a frontier pan or notch the stock HB pan. The HB's have a combiuned harness which means EVERYTHING is teid into eachother and NO real junctions are used to seperate the harnesses. Also, if your truck is one of those mid year 95's where they were transitioning into OBD2 you might as well buy a v6 pickup. Purplr dinosaur on here swapped in a 300zx engine but used the dash from the 300zx to alleviate the issues with his truck cluster which is run by the stock ECU. I am in the process right now of sticking a Vg30et from an 86 turbo 300zx in a 97 pickup and I am running the ECU's in tandom. To make this engine fit requires firewall modification due to the crossover pipe hitting. It will have to be moved back two inches to use stock truck mounts unless truck manifolds are used or 200sx v6 manifolds. If you leave it N/a and use truck manifolds then you wont have too touch the firewall and you can use truck mounts as there all the same location. You will have to find the rubber mounts that bolt to the block from a v6 pickup or pathfinder and bolt them onto the stock 4cylinder locations. Since its a 4x4 your gonna have to divorce your cases on the tranny of your truck and the 300zx and mate them to eachother. Then sell your now KA 240sx tranny to the drifter guys and make some extra cash. good luck with the swap and if you need any pics of whats involved with the turbo motor check out my build thread on nissancustoms.com peace.
