  1. Its odd but in your first post it seemed as though you were trying to bolt up a vgdual cam to a z31 transmission. I am curious about getting an fs5r30a from a 2wd nissan v6 and seeing if ti would bolt in better than the z31's. All the truck transmissions are about two inches shorter than their car counterparts. I bet I would still have to get the driveshaft shortened using an l to vg adapter, huh? Are you still running a stock bottom end like your sig is saying for this new setup, or did you build a new engine to go with the new drivetrain? peace.
  2. ok, are you using one from a turbo late 87-89? OTherwise I would just run a 24sx tranny and save your self some money. peace.
  3. exact same but the starters bolt differently depending on where you get your vg from. If its from a z31 or an s12 you should be just fine but if its from a pikcup or maxima I believe bolt differently. Also, the vg30dett transmission bellhousings are slightly larger, same bolt pattern just larger to accomodate for the bigger flywheel. You WILL have to run a vg30de n/a flywheel for this to work properly because of the larger size to the tt flywheel. You could probly get away with grinding some material on the inside of the bellhousing to tclear the flywheel if you must run the tt fly. peace.
  4. A honda is cheap and easy to work on compared to a vg engine? I think this person doesnt understand engines very well or has the slightest clue of the potential of his car. Bigger displacement = more power potential, so I would stick with the vg if i were you there buddy. peace.
  5. n/a z31 is on the drivers side for dipstick
  6. and for a third curveball you could boost that engine with turbo pieces from a z18et. lol
  7. theres been no proven advantage to having water cooled center cartridges on turbochargers. My t3/t4 in my 280z turbo is just oil cooled and owrks just fine and so did the oil only in my 84 300zx AE. I didnt see a turbo crossmember on your list of things too pull from the parts car. This is a crucial item to your turbo swap as is the driver side engine mount. Long as you take the harness out of both cars and swap the 86 harness in the 02 sensor shouldnt be a problem, gl with the swap. peace.
  8. the only difference I know of is the 02 sensor and if the motor ran when you pull it theres noreason to do a full rebuild, except maybe some freshening up. peace.
  9. the problem is the trailing link design rear suspension isnt designed for drag racing and it causes you tires contact patch to lessen as you accelerate. A nice solid axle conversion with a proper setup 4 link would have you grippin and rippin im sure. peace.
  10. did you get it out? i have done this once before the way your describing and it came out just fine. peace.

    more help

never had a problem with mine when I removed the AIV and it never threw a code for it either. peace.
  12. WC's came in the turbo 300zx's so those should work in the l6 especially since they use the same clutches. peace.
  13. you should post this on 88hybrid too, lots of guys there looking for slicktop cars. peace.
  14. why did you take out the vg30et?
  15. I like your project! Dont let those haters get ya down! peace.
  16. Anyone have a good way of telling whether or not the ECU is seeing PIP or SAW? The ecu is able to tell us RPM's and whatnot in megatune but its still not advancing. Also, does anyone have any pics of their shielding for pip and saw as I think this might be a problem also. Thanks in advance guys. peace.
  17. that looks like alot of firewall bashing there! Did you need to do all that to get the rear crossover pipe to clear? I always wondered if that would clear or not, lol. Anyway, love the truck man and its good too see this engine getting the recognition it deserves. peace.
  18. the intake manifold? Thats from an 85-87 maxima and theyre pretty common in junkyards, I actually sold this one to a guy in england because they dont get these manifolds over there. This one pictured was modified to use an 80mm BMW TB and they work best if the webbing inside is gutted also. I am going with a custom ITB (individual throttle body) setup for my tt setup, as I am going for the quick response. lol peace.
  19. sweet ideas man! Did you take a bunch of pics during the whole install? the ones on your comcast account arent working for some reason. It deffinately looks like you have a pretty quick truck there. peace.
  20. my friend has a two door CS model chevette just rotting away behind his barn and its even got good paint! the cars are actually really fun to drive and theres even some aftermarket for em. I cant wait till my friend does something with his old c-vette! I also made some adapters for those manifolds if you wanna see them so that both outlets point up. Basically just swapping the drivers side mani to the passenger side of the engine and vice versa. peace.
  21. umm actually the manifolds on your 200sx can be flipped up side down with better results than buying headers. I also have some flanges I could sell you if you want then all you would need to do is buy some tubing from burns stainless or jgstools.com. Another cheap option is the junkyard and some nissan quest/88-91 nissan maxima manifolds theyre header style+ they really thick steel flanges welded onto them, theyre not cast. heres a pic of the maxima/quest ones and this is my tt project with two flipped 200sx mani's
  22. dude i love your truck and I am actually doing the same engine in a 620 pickup here in a few months, lol. Only I have a custom tt kit I made for it so its gonna be kinda hairy, lol. I tell people all the time on nissanminis.com and nissancustoms.com to do this converison but theyre all about those silly little torqueless sr's. BTW did you have to relocate the turbo for clearance or did it all fit in there with the truck motor mounts? peace.
  23. yep its set -10 and the saw or pip's are my suspicions also. By chance do you have any better pics of how the boards look when theyre setup for edis? Its hard to decipher from all the different sites out there if our is setup/configured exactly correct. I have seen the sites on MSefi but its just hard to decipher if we need to connect jumper wires to certain points on the board or what. I really think it has more to do with wiring and setup because this MS came from a another corrola running edis and it ran just fine. peace.
  24. I am posting this for a buddy because I have been dragged into this project as well. So, we have an 87 corrola gt-s with a 20valve swap into it which is an engine originally designed for FWD. The dizzy ahs been removed else it would interfere with the firewall so were forced to use EDIS with the ms1 v2.2 system. I thought this would be a fun experience since i will be running edis soon on my Z but as the many months have gone by and the numerous re-wires to try and fix the problem I and my friend are at a loss. He has posted many times about the problem with the EDIS unit not advancing the timing on MSEFI.com and no one shas really been a big help because we have tried everyone of their suggestions to no avail. The program for MS even has a setting for EDIS so we just dont understand what is going on? WE have tested over five different modules about ten different vr sensors 3 coil packs and 15 re-wires, lol. I am ready to shoot this car and its not even mine! Has anyone out there ever had a similar problem or know naything that might steer us into a different direction we have already gone? peace.
  25. he doesnt talk about the maxima intake manifold that this post is refering to in that thread you posted. peace.
