Alright, So, I cleaned up the pass. side a little bit. Here is the result Passenger side CLEANED UP MORE-SO Also, I wanted to get a picture of the nastiest part of the floor pans (in My opinion) This is located on passenger side near firewall on the right side Here it is: (KEY PARTS IN BOLD) Well, with work and a few unexpected surprises, I wasn't able to do all I wanted to. I am probably not going to start body work for a couple more weeks (if lucky) So far, the information has been greatI am really appreciating it. -I don't really want to go with a filler though, I would like to keep it all steel, for something that will last more then 5 years -I don't know about the frame rails as mentioned earlier. I can check them, but the cost of redoing them would probably be way too much for my budget, so THEY had better be good -Tonight I plan on removing the same tar stuff from the rear of the vehicle, and clean up some of the remaining pan tar. If possible I want to start on the fuel system, but that may have to wait for tomorrow. -I pulled my back while lifting weights the other day, so now I have a few extra hours to work on the car for a little while.

What I was thinking.... Cut right next to that bracket, and then grind it down clean cut out both sides of pan, and weld? I don't know, but thats what I was thinking AH just noticed, there is a missing a hole in the pictures... Passenger side near the firewall by the door... Its about 5+ inches across, NASTY I'll take a pic or something

Well, Continuing the stripping down of the vehicle Worked on the floor pans for a couple days, here is the result... probably going to have to replace floor pans... Anyhow, Before I take a sandblaster too it, do I need to clean it up more? or can I move on to other parts of the interior... I know I need to remove the steering column, E-brake, and some other things, but as far as the metal goes, is that black tar crap going to interfere? I have a friend that is going to loan me his siphon feed sandblaster sometime. What type of media should I use? Where should I purchase it? How much does it usually run? Thanks for the help Driver Side Passenger Side Passenger Side closer

I'll just hold off until I am able to find a different engine... I've got the time so no rush

I want a mean street machine without spending a high amount of money... So, here is the information he gave me I spent over $2000 modifying the engine. It has less than 5,000 miles since it has been rebuilt. It ran very strong and made lots of power before my previous car was in an accident. The engine was not damaged in the accident and has been run since then to ensure that there was no internal damage. Engine modifacations include: Full engine rebuild Schnieder Racing camshaft - Lift(In/Ex): .460/.460. Duration(In/Ex): 270/280 All new and professionally installed valve train N47 Head with P79 flattop pistons for a compression ratio of 10:1 Ported and polished head 3-angle valve job Balanced and polished crank 240mm Flywheel Centerforce Dual Friction clutch So its a NA... Is there any way this can get near 250+ horsepower? Is this engine of any value? Can it be turbo (ed)? Would it be worth it? What do you think would be a price to offer if worth it? For the time being... Until i have money for a small block conversion... I wouldn't mind settling into something that has some power but still gets good gas mileage... could my vehicle (260z 1974 1/2) get into the 12's? SIMPLE QUESTION... if all stated info is true, would this be an engine worth buying? Or should I hold off?

I may have found my self a l28et engine... Before buying it what are good questions to ask about it
-
I am curious as to how much money I could make off a pair of 1974 1/2 bumpers? They are actually in great condition, with only a few defects... So, if I were to sell, what would be a good asking price?
-
before I say ugly... what do you plan on doing on it?
-
I like that dash A LOT If you ever plan on making molds/dashes I may be interested in a purchase
-
So, I'll assume, box off the other areas in order to keep the good stuff from warping? Also, How do I go about repairing it after?
-
You wouldn't happen to have a l28et for sale would you? btw, what is the reserve?

Update: So, I wanted to see what was underneath the paint near the windshield. I sanded the area down a to see what I had. Here is the result: I have patches like this across that area. Nothing HUGE, but all about 1-2 inch. What would be the best way to get rid of this? How do I take care of this? Its bugging me because I have 4+ of these small things across the lip of the windshield on the hood. Thanks, Z0wner

Any suggested places to buy bodykits? quality is a must, but prices need to be reasonable. I have heard msa is sub par... Any suggestions?

I actually have fun doing fairly basic websites using photoshop. I thought that I could probably use some experience, so if anyone needs some help designing a "Z work log" or something, just give me a PM. I may be able to help (((EDIT))) I have decided that the website must be a log type website pertaining to at least a car restoration or similiar, sorry about that guys.

This is some good information. Glad that it has gotten so many replys... As for me, seeing that they sell them in a kit, is probably what I'll end up doing. This will ensure that every bolt/nut/screw fits as it should, and for the price it makes it worth doing as opposed to possibly using crummy old screws that I have pulled from the vehicle. About going to ace, I probably will take a look into that, as it is probably the cheapest way to acquire pieces http://stores.ebay.com/Restoration-Stainless -thanks jaime

As I am pulling apart my Z, I have noticed that many of the bolts/screws/nuts are in horrible condition. A lot of them probably shouldn't go back into the vehicle. Here is my question, is there a place that lists the sizes/thread/grade of the bolts/screws that are in the Z? Is there a place where one could purchase these bolts/screws? I was just curious, as many of the screws i'm taking off are snapping (even though drenched in wd-40)

I noticed what it said also, but as you have stated, it doesn't look as a scarab conversion BTW... NICE looking vehicle

I don't live in chicago, vehicle came from there though... I'm near bloomington/normal IL

Yeah, I have a lot of work... And it kinda sucks being a highschool student. I want to try to keep up my GPA up for college scholarships. This is keeping me from working more than 25 hours a week at 6.00 an hour. I also, just... oh, about an hour ago, found out that my family is in a very tight situation. So everything for this project is going to have to be payed for by me and so it probably won't be done for a long while. I probably shouldn't have purchased this vehicle. Oh well. I guess God's will be done. --------------------------- But what I would like to do to the vehicle is fairly simple: Strip vehicle/Body work Bedliner underbody Light charcoal paint for the vehicle l28et engine (actually I would rather do a sbc, but money is an issue at this time) nothing too much i guess
-
This car is from... well, as I was told Originally from AZ area, then purchased moved to chicago, IL area. It was used for a brief period of time and was then left in a garage. FOR 20 YEARS. Owner fired it up, had no use, and sold it to me. The condition isn't great by any means, but it is fair. SO far not anything too horrible.

I thought I would give you some pictures of the nasty spots on the vehicle, and the overall condition Here is an overall view of the vehicle *sorry about the lighting Here is a picture of the driver side Interior Front firewall As you can see, a few holes *floor pan Here is an interior view of the back A picture of a bad spot on windshield Here is the cowl Passenger underside near wheel well Nasty dent on roof Passenger side window *small triangular one Battery Tray Driver side wheel well SORRY 56Kers As you can tell, there is a non factory coat on the vehicle. I started sanding a fender and it had these layers top to bottom: GREEN, WHITE(PRIMER), BRONZE, DARK GREY(OVERCOAT?), LIGHT GREY(ORIGINAL PRIMER), STEEL. Anyway, these spots in the pictures are (hopefully) the worst I have to deal with. Only time will tell, but I don't think its that bad... I was able to pick the vehicle up for 600.00 USD running I will browse that website rumblezzz, and thank you for the tips mom'sZ. I may reconsider going to bare metal. If I can think of any more questions, can I give you a PM?
-
This is probably bad logic, but here is the reason for going to bare metal a- make sure I find all rust, though there are only a few spots with evidence on the vehicle I want to make sure this vehicle lasts for a while b- What about welding on patches/ replacement panels etc. How do you weld patch panels etc. if there is a layer of primer? c- I'll be sand blasting the engine bay/interior of the vehicle. So i thought sanding the entire vehicle would keep things uniform. I guess if this is not how I should be doing it. Then HOW should I do it? As of now, I have a vehicle that is almost completely dismantled. I am wanting to really start doing bodywork, but don't know what I need to do. Could you give me some pointers/directions? This is my first project vehicle and I have no knowledge of these things yet.
