  1. Alright... I finally have a job (lost job about 3 months ago) and I am able to start doing body work. I am a newbie when it comes to cars. I have searched for an answer with no avail, so here is my question. I plan on taking the vehicle down to bare metal and I am not exactly sure of what to use to prevent rusting. I have heard of using/doing the following: a- Zero Rust *isn't this a primer type product? b- Rust Bullet *I read about it on this forums, not sure though of what it is c- Por 15 *I have read that this product has mixed results d- PickleX 20 *Seen very little about this, but what I have seen is good e- Just use some primer Questions are: --What generally the prices of these products? --What is the real difference between these products? --Where do I purchase these? --What are your experiences with these products? --What is going to be the best product for a new person (such as my self) to use? --What is the usual quality of these products? I know these questions seem stupid and numerous, and thats probably because they are. Its just that I am new, and I don't want to waste money or buy a product that is not going to work with my vehicle (1974 1/2 260Z) Thank you for your time, Z0wner
  2. I am doing some restoring with my Z (260) and I am enjoying watching these videos... KEEP THEM COMING. It would be incredibly awesome if you had videos of the project from start to finish. Thanks for the vids
  3. I actually like the black on blue one also... and yes, it would like good with carbon fiber I may be able to photoshop a carbon fiber hood on the car also *new, it didn't quite turn out as hoped, but is pretty close I think
  4. Alright... Reversed I don't have enough time to add that pinstripe , otherwise I would
  5. I hope this is what you are thinking... let me know if something is missing I hope to have the second version done tomorrow, I have too much homework to finsih tonight so this one will have to do for the moment. SORRY for not using your vehicle. This Z was much easier to work with
  6. I could probably help you... I'll have to wait until I get home, but I will help with what I can Tell me exactly what you want done... to the dot, so I know When I get home, i will check what i can do
  7. same for me... I can't really afford it right now. I am a highschool student and ended up losing my job when school started. I worked at a small woodshop whos business slowed down. They couldn't afford me (7.25 a hour LOL) and said, 'sorry, but we aren't getting much business... it would probably be best if you look for a job' that was it. I was out of a job. I have applied at all the stores/fast food joints around this town, but no one is hiring. I even went 30min away to get some applications. Still nothing, I don't know whats wrong. My project has come to a hault and its starting to look grim. This Z was my only car. So now I'm stuck getting rides to school from a sibling. I feel retarded... being an upper classman and not even having a vehicle to drive. And now seeing that my only car, that is pretty much stripped down to the frame, is not getting the proper attention, i feel pretty stupid. Though not in the near future, i can imagine the car being done. Its something I enjoy thinking about. Even though the vehicle is stripped down to a basket case, I can sit in there and imagine myself driving. Oh well, not much I can do I guess. SORRY IF THAT SOUNDED RETARDED. I have just been depressed after not finding a job after a few months, and it doesn't seem like its ever going to get better. Thats why i was wondering how much the light assembly cost and what the availability of them were. So I can be prepared.
  8. could watermark the picture... hehe Looks nice, in my opinion
  9. Yeah, its that gray piece where the lights are mounted... I think this piece you can see from the outside unfortunetly *sp* I snapped the left side
  10. Alright, today I was in the garage and broke the tail light mounting piece of plastic. its that sheet of plastic where all the lights are connected too... by the way, the vehicle is a 260z Anyone know where I can purchase another one in future?
  11. Is it just me, or is that Z tiny? compare it to the guys... then to the other vehicles... The Z Looks ultra tiny... Looks smaller than my 260z ?
  12. I don't know if you are wanting to buy them online or what... but here is a website that seems to sell them http://www.speedstash.com/dad_seats.html
  13. couldn't attach the picture, so it took me a sec to load it onto imageshack
  14. I was sitting at my computer desk and I was thinking ' i wonder what would look good as the next Z'... So, I drew a rough side profile view of what I think the next Z should look like. Here is how it turned out. Let me know what you think
  15. I am curious about these engines... I have searched all over this website and haven't found my info. I am curious as to what vehicle the sr20det originally came in? a 240sx? Also wondering what would be the best way to purchase one of these engines... via a donor or something else? Is the swap into a Z harder than a small block swap?
  16. My point exactly, So, does anyone have any idea of the brand of the muffler? or anything about it overall? or how much it could be worth? I will be able to post a picture sometime with its info
  17. I was reading somewhere that the original muffler of a early Z car was rare because the quality of the original was less than mediocre and they would be replaced with higher quality exhausts. I have searched the internet for this information, but I have not been able to find it. I hope you guys can help. I am wondering what the brand of the original 'whistler' muffler was. I think I may have an whistler muffler sitting around and today I was debating whether or not to trash it. Does anyone know the value of an original muffler if any? I don't want to throw something away that could be valuable.
  18. this is a simple question... Is this the same PickleX that you guys use?
  19. alright, I hear a lot of guys here use picklex. I am browsing the internet for it and I come across this << http://www.icpi.net/ >> Is this the same stuff you guys use? because to me this seems like one of those 'miracle' products. Thanks for the help
  20. I am curious, did sampie make it harder than it really is or is it a pretty tight fit... because I am looking for something that gets fairly good gas mileage than can be swapped fairly easy.
  21. Cool, this helps a lot, thanks guys
  22. being a 'noobie' to Z's do fenders from a 240z bolt up to a 260z? are they interchangeable/ do the curves match ect... because if they do my problem could be solved
