  2. I had a similar experience a while back. Ended up being the alternator belt wasn't tight enough. I run a vg maxima alternator in my s130 though so its a bit more of pain to get in there with a flat bar. Although the problem may be a lemon alternator with a blown diode or fusible link in your case. It does happen.
  3. You know you own a datsun when your other car is a LS1 powered B4C Camaro and you still rather drive the datto.
  4. Nice to hear from you Yasin. I'll be sure to give you a ring when I'm in the area again. I wish you a happy new year as well.
  5. The shop and my home are on the same piece of property (we don't rent we own) and with six acres of property and an insurance deductible of %2, the deductible was over 3 times the value of the property stolen. The faceplate being left in the car was in fact my bloody mistake. I wouldn't figure a thief would venture 300 feet from the street to the vehicles and then to the shop. Everything has been replaced minus a set of wood working routers. I have beefed up security around the property with motion sensitive sirens, built a new atom powered linux security system and have decided to keep my trusty Mosin-Nagant by my easy chair. Burglars beware.
  6. Viper security system now installed take that you bloody low down thieves.
  7. Thank you the body lines really start to grow on you. It's a great little car.
  8. I'm thinking of a South African Alarm system like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDrzMGdYWZc
  9. Kids have quite a bit more Money then you'd think. I didn't say anything about upgrading the brakes along with the rims. In a controlled experiment where everything is constant besides the size of the rim (same total combined tire and rim height) the smaller rim will theoretically perform better and put less jar on the drivetrain. Sidewalls absorb the initial shock of a launch. Remember the magnesium drag raidials of the 60s and 70s. I'm sorry but after riding in a 325i with 19 inch rims and one inch low profile tires I can tell you the car went from a luxury cruiser to a chuck wagon. The owner was much happier with the 16 inch rims that soon replaced the 19s 3 months later. Hell Chrysler redesigned their suspension within the last few years in order to accommodate the larger rims. Previous designs were suffering from front end damage. Big rims and the "performance" market around them are just a fad like baby moons and beauty rings. It's always about the green and aesthetics.
  10. My local discount always have 14s in stock at least in Pirellis and Yokohamas. I've never had a problem with discount.
  11. We have security cams but they were off at the time. What luck. I hadn't put a security system in it at the moment but now thats going to change. This was a good neighborhood but well that changes. I had a 280z on jacks thankfully they didn't vandalize it. Stuff happens but come on why on Christmas.
  12. Its not a flood car. I checked that no worry the harness is fine and plus the car is out of my hometown Channelview which didn't have any water damage during Ike. I grew up helping my grandfather in the rebuild business so this should be easy if i can actually find time to work on it when not in Aggieland. Whats with the dislike of the hurricane rims their so old school plus tires are cheaper on a 14 in rim. I was looking for a complete set for my 280zx about a year ago; got lucky now. I think these new monstrous rims that seem to be the fad are the worse thing to hit the market. Just a way for rim and tire manufacturers to make a profit off kids. More sidewall and less rotational mass equals better performance.
  13. Well I recently acquired an a 1976 280z that had sat in a garage for 20 years. The rust monster is nearly absent from this car which forced me into buying the car despite being partial to the s130. It needs some work but for $400 I can't complain. The floor pans and rails are the cleanest I've ever seen on a Z. They look brand new actually. The battery tray is the only place any distinguishable rust is present. The only thing of any worry is the the passenger quarter panel. It had taken a hit in the early 80s and wasn't repaired to my satisfaction but thats what my new MIG welder is for. You can really see it in the alignment of the hatch. I'm quite pleased with my purchase and the hurricane rims sweetened the deal even more. This car made Christmas bare able considering the content of my previous post in the s130 section. What do you guys think
  14. Well after having my second radio stolen out of my car I'm about at the end of my wick. At about 3 a.m. my radio along with about $1200 worth of tools were stolen out of both my 280zx and my Grandfather's shop. Stupid kids just don't have respect for the property of others. What was a good Christmas became lack luster. The only thing I can think of as a deterrent to having my radio stolen again is to install a retrosound head unit into my car. Stupid kids would think it was an old radio. My questions is what is the quality of these Units and has anybody actually installed them into a s130. I know I can easily install the bloody thing but just wanted to see what luck others have had with similar endeavors. ã™ã‚ŠãŒã ã„ãらã„ã§ã™ã€‚
  15. Thinking about painting a hood with 悪魔 down the center. ã¿ãªã™ããªã§ã™ã‹ã€‚

  16. Do you have the chts and cold start hooked up correctly if not you'll flood the engine and foul the plugs. It's an issue I've encountered before. Make sure your sensor wiring is correct and and swap in a set of new plugs.
  17. Friends are bad for cars. Life lesson
  18. The motor and trans is a pretty direct swap you may need to trim the hole the shifter goes through for the additional gear some s30s require it others don't. I believe the differential is a direct swap but the brakes springs/shock setup are completely different. I'd suggest the Toyota 4x4 brake upgrade if your worried about your brakes. It must be cold in Ohio right now. Use the search function it comes in handy.
  19. I wouldn't pay more than 700 dollars for a good rust free rolling chassis myself but thats the norm here in Houston. On craigslist 400-800 is a frequent for roller cars i.e. engine donor s130s. Too bad your engine went to the wayside. Z cars are an odd market.
  20. Mount it using a linux distro and just copy and paste. If your informations there you should be able to find it using nautilus or the terminal. There are countless live cds out there you can use to do this without installing the os on a drive.
  21. It truly depends on your situation and position along with what type of equipment you have on hand. I could probably do a vh45 swap the cheap way for 2,000. Would I be happy probably not. I'm a college student as well just save your financial aid up and do it the right way.
  22. I'd be interested in clear marker lights and euro tail lights.
  23. Forrest sales good quality ev1 connectors. I'm using a set I bought off him on ebay. They work well and accept solder without hassle.
