Well I've finished the engine swap on my daily driver 280zx and I'm looking for a new project to start on. I'd like to find a predominately rust free s130 shell. I am not looking for a running car. Basically I'm looking for a car I can chop up and experiment on. Anyone with a 280zx roller feel free to shoot me what you have. I'm located in the college station area during weekdays and houston on weekends.

I'd say a blown diode in the alternator just as cygnus said above. I've had it happen in multiple cars. Never ever trust color code on these old datsuns. I found that out when I did the maxima 90 amp alternator upgrade to my 280zx.

I use halogen Units i think they look dandy. Much better then those nasty sealed beams. Check this thread

They will require trimming not the best glass out there but about your only option. He doesn't respond to email so call him. It took me a week to get in touch with him last time playing phone tag.

Sound like the cold start sensor my be acting up sometimes it'll flood a car if malfunctioning at idle and cause a backfire due to excess gas in the manifold. Check your plugs if there are black you definitely have a fuel problem.

My family has always been into NIssan and Z-cars Ovenfood. Its good when the cars are from within the family. When I went off to college my grandfather (more like a father he raised me ) gave me a 79 280zx GL he found from Cali and its been fun and games ever since. I've had the car a little over a year now and I've done everything from putting a new engine in to swapping scion tc seats into it. Even put a new headliner into it. Not one problem out of the car either. When I get some time again I'm going to fiberglass the horrible dash into a piece of art. I love interior work.

I guess PR280Z has decided against fabbing up some fiberglass panels for us. I will now proceed to cry in the corner.

I'd be interested in a set of front fenders also depending on the price. Showcar Body Parts out in Canada makes fiberglass parts but the owner is not the best guy in the world.

Check your fusebox. It corrodes easy might be a fuse as well.

I'm Installing a new built engine into my 280zx and realized the current harmonic balancer only has accommodations for two belts and not three as my old engine did. I would like to retain my power steering which the third belt operates. Would I experience any problems by simply swapping my harmonic balances. The car in question is a 1979 280ZX GL.

I was driving country roads in College Station yesterday in my beloved 280zx took a turn and there was a bmw right in the middle of the turn (out of his lane). Scared me shitless avoided the car and went sliding into a ditch. I survived and my 280zx was unharmed not even a scratch.Just wanted to say how awesome these cars are although mine could use some higher quality tires. If it was any other car but a z i would have hit head on. Bless the Z

Saw pictures of an S130 cowl swap my Uncle did in 93. Buy a few spot weld drill bits and prepare for a sweat filled day.

It's just a normal h4 halogen bulb.

I've glanced through the forums and didn't find a post related to sealed beams. I personally hate the buggers because replacing a whole housing seems like a pain plus they generally look ugly. I recently acquired a sealed beam conversion kit for my 280zx. The website I bought them from called them Euro-Headlights, so I thought I'd post pictures and see what others thought.

I'm looking for the JDM S130 emblems as well. I wouldn't mind paying $30 for one. I'm about to just buy the JDM 350z emblems.
