  1. If you pull it yourself from lkq its about $200 (They have half off days once a month as well). I've done it many times at both the Houston LKQ upull locations. If your buying prepulled, preidentified, and packaged from LKQ of course its going to be expensive. If you go out and pull yourself its dirt cheap. For example, I've bought a MSA Airdam there on a 1/2 days for $10. Maybe the DFW area yard is different. There website doesn't reflect the upull yards at all here in Houston. Happy Hunting.
  2. In Houston you can find T5 transmissions all day everyday at the upull yards. Have your tried your local LKQ? They usually have quite a few old fbodies at their yards.
  3. Yeah the guy you bought that 260z from had kinda pieced the car together. It was listed on the houston craigslist and the hybrid z classifieds for a while. I would get a rusted 280zx turbo and swap the whole setup over to get your project started. Run it like that and then decide if you want megasquirt. If you take on too much at once your will nor financial supplies will allow you to finish. Also PLEASE read the forums, all the megasquirt info can be found throughout the site. DIYAutotune should be able to hook you up with everything you need as well. Welcome to hybrid z.
  4. Did some body work on the driver's side quarter panel on my 260z.
  5. The ecu will require an upstream o2 sensor for controlling fuel not sure if the rb26 ecu has a downstream (emissions) o2 sensor but if it does it shouldn't be required. I'm not a seasoned rb guy but general mechanics holds true. Depending on the age of your vehicle and local/state laws a catalytic converter may not be required for inspection.
  6. Your looking at a carbed intake manifold, a set of decent SUs, a fuel pressure regulator, and time. I'd say your looking around 300 hundred if you get lucky and can find your carbs at one of the many Pick A Parts in the Houston Area and they magically work. I go through them about three times a week, you might get lucky if I don't get there first. I've collected a few sets of SUs and a set of DGVs this way. Since you seem new to carbs, you might try talking to Doug at Awesome Z in Houston. He's a real helpful guy and is fair on part prices.
  7. I'm looking for the later style driver's side door latch mechanism for my 78 Dutch 260z 2+2. The latch is the same as those found in the later model 280z 2+2. If anyone has one laying around that they don't need in a rusting parts car that they'd let go for cheap that would be appreciated. I have no doubt I can rebuild the one currently in my door but I'd like to have one on hand just in case. Thanks
  8. Pet280, you need to relax. Don't take everything so personally. HybridZ is a much more professional place then that. This isn't the silvia forums. I believe NewZed was just curious. Many members on this forum are older gentlemen. Much more so then other forums. They provide a plethora of information for us younger guys. There's no reason for an inflated ego and disrespect. Welcome to the forums.
  9. Have you tried ebay australia (ebay.com.au) ? I've seen some decent deals pop up there.
  10. Yeah Mate thats a 260z 2+2. I have a warm place in my heart for them but 1500 quid seems a bit much for whats there. I have a dutch 1978 260z 2+2 with the same wing. I paid 1500 USD around 1000 quid and my car had already been proffesionally restored before making it to my side of the pond with it's previos owner. 10 years later it comes into my posession in need of a few patches but still a solid car. I say pass due to the condition of the car not the fact that it's a 2+2. As seattlejester said these cars kinda take from your social life. 3 Zs, and a z28 later and I spend most of my weekends on my cars rather then hanging out with friends and I'm entering my last year of university. Thankfully my Girlfriend is understanding.
  11. Stroker, High Compression, and Cam would be a start. Then aftermarket ems.
  12. Yeah... Some of these people are nuts or think very little of their fellow man's reasoning faculties. Honestly I was very dissapointed in the original ZX in this post. I have always wanted to see a low mile pristine S130. I have yet to see one. You think the aboves bad? There was a guy on the Houston Craigslist who wanted 3k for an 83 ZX Turbo with 30k advertised as clean. Checked out the car and the floors were gone, the the tail light area was rusted through, two injectors were plugged up, and the title was a bonded title with two years left on the bond. Nice Daily Driver, low rust, with clean paper.... Yeah right . Left my number and told him when he wanted parts to give me a call
  13. http://houston.craigslist.org/ctd/3712843293.html Looks like the same car. I thought the dealer wanted too much. The floor wasn't perfect last time I looked at the car.
  14. Getting Ready to patch the floors in my 260z. The current is not up to expectations.

  15. Flux will probably blow through. If you decide to weld you'll want an argon mig setup. I know alot of people use 3m 8115 panel bonder for rocker panels. I've only used it for quarters panels and patching doors. That's my 2 cents.
  16. I have the same wheels on my Z. PepBoys carries the lugs if you need them.
  17. That RHD 2+2 is down to 1,500. Somebody offer him 300 and see what he decides
  18. Its actually a 78 260z 2+2 looking at the dutch import card and title info. It's had a lot of rust repair. Got it from a former Shell Engineer. So its rather close to the Dutch Firewall with a lot of rust repair. I'm not complaining though. Can't wait for summer to put it back on the road.
  19. I'm looking for a clean 2+2 back hatch for for my 260z 2+2. Looking for something cheap. Let me now what you have. My hatch isn't bad I'd just like to have a clean hatch that requires less prep for paint. I hate grinding.
  20. That's been on Craigslist for weeks now. I wouldn't touch it for 2k. But I just picked a 1974 European market 260z 2+2 originally from Holland with no rot, a great interior, in heavy need of paint, for 1,500 so maybe I'm spoiled
  21. New Acrylic Lacquers should be legal now. The New Formulations don't use lead anymore so there's nothing that legally prevents their use in most Jurisdictions. But I'm in Texas and your in Illinois so the laws may be different.
  22. I'd just repaint it myself using acrylic lacquer after doing the prep and paint work described above by Meph. If you worried about it fading and losing its sheen just use a lacquer clear coat after you color sand and polish. Acrylic Lacquer is the most forgiving paint medium I've ever experienced. If your not a pro its excellent to learn on. http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/itemgroupdetail2.aspx?WebsiteCategory=GM+Linen+White&WebsiteCategory3=AL%E2%80%93Acrylic+Lacquer&selectedsku= They sell an assortment of lacquer colors and clears. Corvette guys are real big on the stuff. Cover the Garage in plastic problem solved.
  23. I have the Hayden Fan Controller mentioned above. It's ok but they occasionally go bad. I put around 30,000 on my Z a year. I'm on my third controller in 3.5 years. Put an override switch in the cabin just in case.
  24. Junkyards have been my normal haunts for small knick knacks such as that. No, projectors are very good at blinding me. My friend's e46 has projectors that cause a decent amount of suffering. My eyes have been worked on quite a bit as well causing a general hypersensitivity to light. I kept others with similar eye conditions in mind when I made my headlight choice.
