i found that globular(i think thats what they call it) works realy well on sheet metal. turn the heat and wire speed way down untill it balls up at the tip, then push the moten ball onto the metal. it'll take a bit of tinkering to get it set right, and it'll be slow work, but it won't burn thru if done right. but this is more for making strings than it is tacks. has anyone tryed lead filler instead of bondo?

i drilled a hole in the shocks and ran a small bead over the seam once i had it as close as i could get it. i still havn't trimmed the rubber end caps.

what about an rb25 tranny? are they realy as strong as the rumors say?
-
it's NA. everything is stock; bore, pistons, etc. the manual said top ring at .025" min, and second at .030" min. all of mine gap at .018". should i have them at the books specs, or is that too much. if it's too much, what should i have them at?
-
well, they both check out at .018" as pulled from the box. so should i just leave them as is?
-
the fsm says a min of .025 on the top and .30 on the second ring. the rings i bought mic at .018. my engine builder thinks that that should be fine and that the books numbers seem a bit high. what do u sesoned builders think i should go for just a stock rebuild?

i'm havin a hard time findin a set of fender mirrors. has anyone used another type of mirror in this manor, and what does it look like?
-
well this is a kool little mod. but can the markers be found as clears?

i'm lookin at .020 over just to even all the cylinders out. if i can't find those, then yea i'll go bigger, but i can't find any. i've only been able to find oversized dished from Napa, but i want the flats. i don't have the extra time and $$ to have things machined. if i find the pistons i want i can get them and have the block machined in a few days. DAW, i love u'r idea about gettin the better rod/stroke ratio, but i don't have very much money to play with. theirs alot of things i'd love to do to this motor, but this is not the time for it, i just need it back in the car, and soon.

i can't seem to find any. MSA says that Nissan disscontinued them(thats their vendor). Beckarnley doesn't have .020 over flat tops(thats what i want). and i can't afford to get custom. were can i find some?

my dad had a chance to pic up one of those over the summer. $1500 for the car and all the parts to put it together, plus a bunch of spare. freakin awsome cars, i wish he had bought it.

after extencive nit picking(i have a 67 Camaro in my garage) i deem it nice, but not quite ready yet. the c pillar is perfect, couldn't have been done any better. 1/4 pannel, near carbon copy of the original. smaller tail lights and the rear will be ok. grill shape is nice, just needs to be flattened out a bit more, it's to angular. the roof as a whole is very well done, apart from the drop down the middle. i think that GM is trying to capture the classic koolness of the first Camaro, but with an updated look to better suit the time period. the biggest beef i have with this is that their trying to look like the first gen, but are calling it a muscle car. the first gen was a pony car, so proportions were not as bulky as the large muscle cars on the road at the time. i'f they realy want to capture that classic feel, they need to make it look less bulky.

my s12 is called the TurboNotch and my z was referd to as the Batmobile by friends of the last owner. not sure if i'll keep it or call it Darkhorse once i get it painted.

http://www.az-zbum.com/images/engine.z31.vg30de.jpg it's n/a but u get the idea. theirs a pic i've seen on club-s12 with a vg30dett in an s12. all i can say is lets hope u have pretty small hands or u ain't changeing that oil.

the 240sx came with only 4 cylinders, u might be thinkin of the 200SX SE. they had the vg30e.

280Z stereo upgrade. Could use some input.
Eric replied to nienberg.11's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
u and i have the same car, 77 2 seater. i thought the same thing till i pulled out the wood floor. pull the rear carpet out an unscrew the wood floor. i found my tire iron in the driver side compartment. something i plan to do is totaly remove that wood floor and the risers for it so the deck is lower. that way i can build a sub box to fit in the corner under the hatch strut with the sub facing sideways. u could make the box to look like the side, and no one would know just by lookin that u've got sub. -

i have 2 6x9's right behind my seats. just some cheep walmart box's and low grade clarions. they sound great. if u realy want them to be out of site tho, put them in the storage compartments behind the seats. u'll have to remove the wood floor to get to them. or, msa sells a 6x9 box that replaces the tail light access panel. theirs not much room between the wood and the floor, so i don't think subs would work well the way u have them. i'd pull the spare tire and use the whell for a sub box. -
http://www.club-s12.org/board/showthread.php?t=6749 rb20det S12 i also have an idea asto the mounting. the s12 came with a vg30 in 87-88. to make it fit, Nissan had to change the xmember in the car. my thought is that if u have the SE(trim level of the vg car) xmember, use the z31 200zr mounts and have a direct bolt in. i don't know any messurments so i'm not sure if u'd need to move the radiator suport forward but i'd be willing to bet u'd need to.

i remember an article in MT back when the "truck"(lets use that term loosly now shall we) first came out. they called it, the truck for people who hate trucks. now it's truck of the year? WTF

i was playing with the Lengine calculator and that combination came out at 8.79:1. but it said that stock was 8.29:1. i trust what all of you have been telling me, i'm just a bit thrown off by the difference in numbers from the Lengine calculator.

i think the regular s13's are 4.11

u should look into the work required for using the z32 rear suspension. a buddy of mine has a z31, and i have an s12(the rear setup is very similar if not identical) and we both hate it. but i'm sure u'r aware of that being a z31 owner. not the most well designed set up out their.

Fight those speeding tickets guys!! Fought mine today and won!
Eric replied to a topic in Non Tech Board
pulled from Club-s12.org: there are 3 questions u should always ask a cop when he or she clocks you speeding with a radar gun. it might get it dismissed. it worked for my friend. 1. is the cop that operated the radar gun licensed to use it, only 30 percent of cops are permitted to use em. 2. has the radar gun been tested in the last 30 days to see if it functions properly 3.last but not least, does the police officer have a print out of your speed at the time of clocking. i am not sure what one my friend used but it worked. his father is an attoney and he advised us of these rules. these are for califonia, i am not sure it it is like that in other states. and wait till the court date to do these. you don't want to piss the cop off while you'r getting written up.
